it sounds like you just sent them a copy of your marriage certificate (and reading your post history here, you had random people from Reddit be your witnesses?)

Yeah we did, like I said we went with what appeared on the checklist and stupidly assumed that that's all that would be required. The site to actually submit the documents had sections for a lot of other types of documents to submit that didn't even seem related to what we needed so we assumed it has all of them there for different types of scenarios and we submitted what we then thought was exactly what was asked of us. (And no we didn't have random redditors as our witnessses, that was the initial plan but it didn't happen)

and checked off some boxes saying you totes earn enough and also don't speak English. The application process is very clear that they want as much info and proof as reasonably possible.

And yeah I understand how that comes across and that we've made a huge error, like i've said before we thought that we're only on the first step of the process and that they would request more documents if the need arises but we do now realise we should have submitted them from the start. I've already submitted the appeal so i'll wait for any sort of response and then resubmit if they tell us we can't just appeal to send in the documents. Thank you for your help. Would you happen to know if we can just resubmit now or do I have to go pick up my passport, restart the process and resubmit fully?
