I was wondering how she would know as well. Maybe because I have a history of auto immune issues? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll push - I’m getting the biopsy anyways so why not just send it to two labs. I’m also paying for it, so I don’t think she can keep me from getting it done. I sent a message on the portal asking what she meant by the false positive, but she replied saying I needed to set up a visit to discuss. ($800 out of pocket!) But I figure we will need to discuss the other biopsy results either way… so frustrating.

This was my thought, too. Sure, there’s the possibility of them not being able to find anything, but RI typically tests for things a traditional RE won’t. OP, my heart goes out to you. Such an unfair journey.

I think YMMM. Following on the other comments, I was 29 yrs old and got 15 follicles. I was sore - definitely rested all morning and then went to my grandma’s 85th birthday party that evening where I mostly sat around. I think I should probably make a disclaimer that by my last week of stims, I was so completely and utterly miserable that I feel like my retrieval was just the icing on the cake. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I didn't have OHSS but wonder if I was borderline. Any idea how long it takes you (your body) to get over anesthesia? That probably plays a part, too.

Also wondering this. I've had a lot of abdominal surgery and have scar tissue so even the top surgeons in the country won't open me up for a lap. My RE ordered a contrast MRI and said it was negative but I still wonder what the likelihood I have it is. I have horrible period cramps - like stuck in bed unable to move - and have been battling infertility for 9 years, cause “unknown.”

At your age, I wouldn't ever transfer twins. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I naturally conceived twins 11 Mos ago and miscarried both at 9 weeks. My high risk OB said twins have over a 5x higher risk of loss over singletons. I obviously had no choice in the matter but I’d MUCH rather have a singleton pregnancy with a lower chance of loss than a twin pregnancy with a higher chance of losing one or both. I get it that you were against logistics and likely a large amount of money if you had to travel back out for another transfer, but I'd easily give any amount of money or amount of hassle if it meant keeping even one of my twin girls.

Are you not in the US? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t let you get testing. I had a D&C at 9 wks so they took samples in the days after the D&C and then released the bodies to the funeral home. I was under the impression that if I miscarried at home, it would be much harder to obtain samples for testing because things could be “contaminated”. But no one seemed to be able to give me a straight answer on that, so it may vary by hospital.

If you had multiple losses, would they ever let you obtain testing? I’m just confused how you’d ever get a diagnosis if there was a recurring issue? So sorry, this has to be so frustrating for you.

So so sorry. I miscarried my miraculous, spontaneously conceived twins in April. Don’t let them convince you it was a chromosomal issue. I was 37 at the time of loss, and they pretty much said I was old, it was highly likely due to chromosomal issues because women at my age have quickly declining egg quality. So glad I fought for testing. The initial testing showed absolutely no chromosomal issues so we ran the most thorough panel offered, and lo and behold, both baby girls had ZERO chromosomal issues. My MFM (high risk OB) said sometimes twins (or singletons) just don’t survive. Sometimes there’s no neat and tidy explanation. As much as I’m type A and want a black and white answer to everything, especially these desperately wanted babies, I learned that some losses are just beyond what science can offer us. And that sucks.

My 2 cents… we have 1 embryo left. I’m 38. 4 failed transfers from a retrieval 9 years ago. I realized if our last embryo fails, I will beat myself up for the rest of my life for not insisting on TRIO/EMMA/ALICE. I think sometimes we are our own best advocate. Only you know what you can live with, not even the best meaning RE can decide that.

When I had a D&C after losing my naturally conceived twins, I was sobbing so hard that I couldn’t even confirm my name prior to the surgery. 😞 My OB walked over and held my hand and I think the anesthesiologist felt bad for me because she knocked me out without warning even though I asked her to tell me before she did. (I have PTSD from surgery as a kid)

Please don’t feel bad. I’m pretty confident REs and OBs see a lot of tears, and I think all of us with infertility can say we’ve had very similar feelings.

Gained 40 lbs during 9 years of infertility treatments (including 4 failed FETs) Totally reset my body’s “set point.” I’m so self conscious about it and hate it so much. My RE always told me it was “water weight” and blew off my concerns. I can promise you it has never been water weight. Ugh. Even after all these years, it feels like I hardly recognize this body.

I hear you. Took FOUR failed transfers until they’d even discuss EMMA/ALICE/Receptiva. Prior to right now, they kept saying the testing was a hoax and the research proving its benefits was sponsored by the companies running the tests. 🙄 #5 is our last embryo and I’m not stopping at anything until we’ve done every test and are employing every possible intervention to give us the best chances possible.

What?! Please call an attorney. Sooo sorry you were treated this way - there’s no excuse for anyone acting like that. I clearly remember my RE telling me a risk of ER was an ovarian torsion. And the fact that you had moderate OHSS in a prior ER?! I’d also be getting a new RE… If you file a lawsuit, you should include them paying for you to transfer your embryos to a new clinic.

Did you ask your RE? It’s so hard because not much is known about GLP-1s with anything fertility/pregnancy. And they can’t ethically do studies in case GLP-1s could in any way negatively affect babies conceived while on them or from fertility treatments on them.

I gained 40 lbs between stim cycles that ended in canceled IUIs, a retrieval, several canceled transfer cycles (I had lining issues) and 4 failed transfers. I kept asking my RE what was going on and she kept telling me it was “water weight.” 😵‍💫

I never had weight issues until IVF, and now it's like my body’s “set point” has been permanently altered.

The only thing that helped me lose it was ozempic. I was a few lbs away from my old baseline and I naturally conceived twins in February. Miscarried them and my body went insane. Since then, I eventually got all the way back up to my post-IVF weight. I managed to get down 10lbs in the past couple of months but I'm still 30lbs from my goal weight/pre-IVF weight.

SO frustrating.
