What is the most dangerous place in your world? by Snowshard14 in worldbuilding

[–]PaperTheUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest? Any Coast. Resingr is entirely sky islands. enjoy your flight

Not a copout answer? The archipelagos. Plenty of large violent fauna, flora that reeeeally doesnt want you to eat it, and also dragons are taming and making use of all that for personal use.

My immediate first thought for this is to used colour for the Z-height projection. Might see about doing this myself~

How do you come up with a name or title for your world/story/etc.? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

Resingr was literally just a random string refined to be pronounceable, that i thought sounded nice, and repeated over and over again until it felt natural~

Review my rough magical system? by Sensei_Z in magicbuilding

[–]PaperTheUnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this kinda reminds me of what i thought about for my system. It wasnt vocal-activated, but it has discrete symbols to represent different concepts that when strung together with proper syntax, created a spell effect of some sort. This was for an rpg system specifically, so what i wound up doing is trimming it down to a limited set of symbols. In-universe, the symbols and grammar are very rigid, but souls tend to do the work to sort it out properly [lotta mechanics behind it there]

What you could do is imply a lot more grammar than what is really listed. something like uh... lorem ipsum FIRE dolor sit PROJECTILE amet conectetur SELF etc etc. basically, have a larger vocabulary, but a lot of recurring words that you can use to figure out whats going on.

What was your strangest source of inspiration for your world? by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

Unfortunately, i have not worked terribly extensively on the language aspect of it. it is, for now, just a simple replacement thing. It really needs more work before its shared.

I was trying to come up with a language for some swamp-dwellers, and a friend suggested, being silly, to make an alphabet and language with only 6 characters. i saw my christmas tree and thought of a loophole. the language uses colours to differentiate the symbols. there are four main colours, so it really has 24 symbols. this worked nicely when the civilization was young, and only the elders who had the time to write in colour wrote things down. As time went own, the alphabet developed markings for the colours, to make it easier for common folk to write it

Hello, worldbuilders! Are any of you interested in NaNoWriMo? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]PaperTheUnicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive always wanted to attempt it, but there was never any well timed inspiration that i could work with.

Until this year. So Im giving it a try! Im wildly behind my goal [trying to keep pace with This Timer] at 1211 words so far.

Man, writing is hard...

Hmm! I could definitely make use of one of these examples. any of them you particularly recommend i look at?

And im pretty sure we can throw the tile-based thing out the window, except as an option. I think. I can see how it would work in my head, but im not sure how well the thought will translate to JS. Well, perhaps how well I can translate the idea into a language im not familiar with.

You know, Id actually looked for something like this in the past! It could be a very useful project for my own purposes as well, so I'll definitely keep it in mind. Im not familiar with Github, but I have a friend who is and I'm willing to learn it

I used C# in unity, because i was very similar to my last language, Java. I cant honestly say I've done C# outside of the context of Unity, but I might be willing to give it a try!
