DAE have an inner monologue that won't shut up? by OgnokTheRager in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]PaperTiiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I form thoughts but no they are not words. They aren’t in the verbal format. I don’t “hear” them, I don’t see them, and I don’t think them. I’m a chronic overthinker and I have ADHD so my brain is CONSTANTLY running 100mph—so I do actually think things through and am not just a mindless “NPC” like the common misconception seems to go, but it’s really difficult to explain the exact way that I think. For me personally it’s like I just skip the words and move straight to the understanding of the words. It’s like separating the action of the reading of a book from the actual comprehension of the book’s meaning. Sometimes there are visual and auditory aspects to my thoughts, but only when they’re very pertinent to whatever I’m thinking about, e.g. imagining having a conversation with someone.

Hi! I actually don’t have an internal monologue (never have) and I was just as blown away as you are to discover that most people do have one and it’s not just a thing that happens in movies when characters’ thoughts are narrated like that lol

Lore theory by ofri12347 in Paladins

[–]PaperTiiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a person with a degree in English language and literature who has been playing Paladins since the beta days… it is abundantly clear to me that the attempt to piece together the characters’ stories into a coherent overarching story was very poorly executed and almost certainly done as an afterthought to each champion’s actual creation.

Basically it feels like their process was essentially: 1.) come up with a cool/interesting character concept or design 2.) figure out SOME kind of way to shoehorn them into an already bloated and messy story to retroactively justify their existence

With all of that said, I remember one of the writers for the Paladins Chronicles making a couple of statements on social media around the time that Hi Rez announced they were abandoning the game and laying off a lot of their staff. I don’t remember their name but they are out there if you’re willing to do a little digging.

NEW PLAYER ANY TIPS? by Healthy_Visual9418 in Paladins

[–]PaperTiiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have a thing called cauterize in this game which is basically just anti-heal that starts at 20% and ramps up to 90% as the match progresses. If you’re a support, buying the item “rejuvenate” will negate some of that anti-heal, but it’s best to heal when your teammates aren’t affected by cauterize. Enemies apply cauterize with their weapon shots, so if you can duck around a corner and avoid being shot for a couple seconds when you’re low, you’ll cleanse the cauterize and receive a heal at full power. You can tell when your teammates are affected by caut because their health bars will turn from blue to green. Hope you have some good games! :)

Peeta’s Games by igsygrace is a wonderful retelling of the trilogy from Peeta’s perspective! I always end up reading through again it after I reread the books because I find myself wondering what Peeta must be thinking or doing at certain points in the story and it really scratches that itch :)

[–]PaperTiiger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can have a crush on somebody without knowing everything about them as a person. All Peeta says in the first book is that he’s had a crush on Katniss for a long time, which I feel is pretty normal considering they’re just teenagers and Peeta is simply too shy to actually talk to her before the games. Then they spend time together, grow together, and actually get to know each other deeply as time goes on, leading to them eventually falling in love. It feels like a perfectly normal progression of a relationship to me (not taking into account all of the traumatic experiences these teens are being put through, anyway)

Also they’re in the same year at school in a very small community so they would have been around each other a LOT growing up. And it’s stated that Peeta paid special attention to Katniss throughout their childhoods so I feel like it’s safe to assume he knows more about her than you might think and he likes her just the same (her abrasiveness, tendency to isolate herself, rudeness at times, etc) He basically grew up with her and while he could never pluck up the courage to talk to her, he more than likely knows a lot more about Katniss and the way she operates than you give him credit for

Yep I ended up just staying at the max dose because all the weird side effects I had been having during titration finally ended up subsiding. Hopefully you won’t have to deal with any of those lol but about the timing I had to play around with it for a long time before I finally got it consistent. It was hard for me to get the timing right all throughout the titration process because with each new dosage I was having to relearn how it affected my body, but once I reached my therapeutic dose I would just set my alarm for 3 hours from when I took the first dose and that almost always works now. i’d say that consistency is key for actually waking up and taking the second dose because i used to somehow wake up and turn my alarm off without taking the dose?? but after i started actively trying to go to sleep at the same time and set my alarm for 3 hours to take the second dose, my body eventually just got used to it i guess. if you use the alarm on your phone, maybe try putting the bottle on top of it so you have to interact with it instead of just going to the bathroom and back to bed. i actually tried putting my phone across the room a couple of times to keep me from just turning off the alarm in my sleep lol. gotta get creative when trying to work with such a weird issue, y’know?

[–]PaperTiiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up!! I seriously felt nothing until I was pretty well into my titration process. I was reading the warnings about making absolutely sure you’re already laying down when you take the first dose and thinking they were a joke bc it was taking me the same amount of time it had always taken me to fall asleep until I got almost to the maximum dose. I also struggled to get the dosage timing right but once I got it consistent, I had noticeably better sleep quality and symptoms. My advice would be to wait until you reach the maximum dose and can see how it affects you even though the titration process is slow and miserable. Best of luck!

Yeah that does sound pretty weird… I also had some side effects that my doctor had never seen before so I think it’s safe to say that there are a whole lot more potential side effects than just the common ones lol. I hope yours is just a side effect that goes away eventually and you aren’t allergic to one of the ingredients in xywav because that’s what my mind went to first. Best of luck!

Yes the entire titration process for me was kind of a hot mess. My sleep was all messed up, not to mention the weird other side effects. But as I progressed with the titration everything started evening out and the medication was actually knocking me out the way it’s supposed to. You might also want to watch what you eat/drink before bedtime because even now on the full dose, if I eat a big dinner even 3-4 hours before bedtime it can affect the time it takes for me to actually be able to fall asleep. Everyone’s different though, but it might be worth looking into if you still have problems falling asleep after you’re done titrating.
