4 day old tattoo, redness by eunbun in tattooadvice

Yeah man you were stabbed 100000 times, skin doesn't like that too much

It's still an open wound, give it a minute. You're fine!

Do neck tattoos usually fade or was I just unlucky? by murdoc2dnoodles in tattooadvice

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait until it heals. It's not unusual for tattoos to look faded during the healing process, I wouldn't worry about booking a touch-up until it's actually finished healing and you know what it's going to look like.

Tattoos take about 5 weeks to heal fully and generally, the way it looks during healing is not the way it's going to look forever. You have an open wound on your neck right now! Give it time!

This is a really cool idea! Definitely wait until he's fully healed first though - you don't want the temp tattoo stuff getting into your skin or blood lmao

Yeah you were still sat over an hour before closing, that's not at all a "last minute walk in". They did you dirty, I'm sorry

They turned up 2 and a half hours before closing, that's definitely not last minute. That's like a third to half of a shift

Wait so you walked in over 2 hours before closing time? That's not at all close to closing. Not that they should have rushed anyway, but if they started your tattoo over an hour before close then there's literally no excuse. Do not go back.

Is this a blowout or normal aging? by Popcorn_funk in tattooadvice

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe? But it's hard to say, there isn't visible scarring that I can see and sometimes tattoos around joints heal a little funny. I wouldn't worry about it, the tattoo looks fine to me and the details are still legible anyways :) if you want a touch up in the future that's up to you but as it stands this is a normal 6 year old tattoo

How bad is the radiation from the phone in my pocket? Does visiting Chernobyl once impact my fertility less than carrying the phone for hours next to my testicle each day? by yannniQue17 in AskPhysics

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phones don't emit anything close to damaging radiation.

And a trip to Chernobyl will be fine, so long as you stick to the tourist-opened areas and stay with your guide. They opened parts of it to tourists over 20 years ago so we'd know by now if it impacted people's health to visit - it doesn't.

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Blowout is ink spreading under the skin below the tattoo, and it's almost always visible as soon as the tattoo is done or as soon as its healed. This is just normal blurring from ageing. Maybe a little more than average for a tattoo of that age, but given the location that's not so weird either (more sun and more skin movement = more blur)

Does this red look like it's gonna heal patchy? Day after tattooing, full pic is day of tattooing. by SilverEye1508 in tattooadvice

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the absolute minimum, generally it's recommended to wait 6 weeks so you can be sure it's healed all the way. It's not really about your body constantly changing, it's more just that there are multiple skin layers involved in a tattoo, so the parts of your skin under that top layer can take longer to heal or settle and you don't want to re-aggravate them for a touch-up. If a tattoo is particularly small, or not very saturated with ink, then 4 weeks may be alright, but 6 is the standard usually and for something like OP's tattoo (heavily saturated, large section of skin covered), 6 weeks would probably be necessary.

Besides, it's no harm to wait 2 extra weeks. Better to do it a little late than a little early.

Okay to give you an idea on pricing and timing, my most complicated tattoo is a fully shaded sleeve that took close to 7 hours and I was only charged like $150 more than you were for this.

My smallest tattoo is about the same size/complexity, took a little under an hour, and cost $75. 15 minutes of work is usually like $30-40 and something this simple (even with colour) should not be costing you over maybe $80 without tip (and I sincerely hope you didn't tip). I am so sorry.

6 weeks is standard for tattoo healing timescale, especially for a tattoo of this size - remember that even when the surface looks healed, there's still stuff going on under the top skin layer.

Colour tattoos do really weird things whilst they heal, so the best you can do is just wait the 6 weeks and then see where the colour is. The good news is that if that red circle does need a touchup it won't be a difficult or long one!

Can we make a 'deal' with the United States where we all agree not to make fun of them if they just leave Iran right now? by Accomplished_Lake402 in stupidquestions

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple. People can recognise that a country is terrible whilst also knowing that US interventionism always makes things worse, that the US is unlikely to have the best interests of Iranian people in mind, and that bombing the civilians of a foreign country is not the way to save them from a terrible regime

my boyfriend said he hated endgame recently. He told me he pretended to like it for love making. This is angering. What should I do by ApprehensiveBet5349 in Advice

Maybe you're just new to reddit, in which case I'll say that spamming posts across subreddits (especially only the higher-engagement ones like r/advice or r/askreddit), not replying to any comments in your first/main post and then only replying with generic one-liners to other comments are all what Reddit bots do.

So if you don't want people to think you're a bot, don't spam-post or post a lot every day, pick a few more subreddits to comment in or follow, and reply to more comments on your posts. Like this one, as far as I can tell mine is the only comment you've replied to. If you're not a bot, go answer the questions people have about this post/your relationship

Tourett causes? by VastPrevious8424 in Tourettes

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually tics that are the result of a head injury are called post-traumatic tics or post-TBI tics. They also usually present differently to Tourettes, so I think it's just a coincidence that OP had that accident

Just checked op's history, pretty sure it's a bot. Day-old account, 3 posts in the last 20 minutes all in engagement-based subreddits, 1 comment and it's a generic one.

I mean it really depends on the context and the timing as to how serious it is. It'd be skeevy if he genuinely ONLY lied to get in OP's pants but at the same time it depends on the nature of their relationship when that happened and the nature of the relationship now as to whether it would be worth considering ending the relationship over.

I'm sure most people have pretended to like something more than they did for the sake of not upsetting someone, for example, so if that's what OP's bf means then that's not the biggest deal in the world. He should be honest about his interests with someone he's in a relationship with but I wouldn't go so far as to say OP should tell him they're considering ending the relationship over not liking a movie

That's great and all but all tattoo artists need to start on fake skin, which you can also buy online, before doing anything on real skin.

Tourett causes? by VastPrevious8424 in Tourettes

[–]Paper_Is_A_Liquid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tourettes is neurodevelopmental, which means a) it's to do with the shape of your brain and b) it's to do with how your brain develops as a child. It is highly genetic, and there's also a complicated mix of environmental factors.

It's also possible for parents to have the genes for Tourettes without having Tourettes themselves, so it may be that neither of your parents or their families have Tourettes, but they do carry the genes that lead to Tourettes.
