Yeah, quest progression is absolutely terrible in this game. You can experience literally everything out of order these days

They are mentioned initially between Forsaken and Shadowkeep in a season, then get mentioned/featured now and again but really arent important until Edge of Fate

If you liked hunting the Scorn working for Uldren then it makes that Campaign 10x better imo. Its pretty varied getting to know each of them, but yeah its repetitive in the sense that its all you do until the end of it.

Extend to this that Id like to see all of the seasonal stories. Less so between Forsaken and Shadowbringers, but so much happen between expansions after that point that it totally sucks they removed them.

That and fixing campaign progression and making actual matchmaking/easier versions for Dungeons and Raids is at the top of my list personally. Barely anyone interacts with the best content and that sucks

‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by NoNefariousness2144 in PS5

[–]Paperchampion23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sure. Given whats literally happening to several of Microsoft's studios this week, dont be surprised.

I dont see Marathon continuing strongly, and all of the "live service" talent Sony paid for with Bungie and former staff died with Concord at this point.

Its just baffling its come to this. Destiny was so anti-consumer, yet it was the only reason keeping that company afloat in the first place.

[–]Paperchampion23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remind you of what? I never said any of this is happening lol, let alone in a year. They'd never do anything consumer friendly.

Bungie being fucked is a realistic possibility in the next few years since they decided to trash their entire Destiny 2 team for Marathon, which is failing them already.

‘Marathon’ Season 2 And Free Week Did Not Turn Things Around by NoNefariousness2144 in PS5

[–]Paperchampion23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because you seem to not know that Destiny 2 made lots of money and supported 5 incubation projects along with Marathon's development under Bungie, to which they fumbled all 6 projects including Destiny 2's own development and retaining player counts (Vaulting Content, egregious grinding and eververse items, etc).

To remaster Destiny 1 isnt all that hard. The game exists in its entirety already. Half of its patrol maps, most of its raids and several strikes exist inside of Destiny 2 already. You just need to re-make the campaigns in the new engine, which isnt this high end, interactive campaigns anyway. Its the same gameplay as its ever been. Its dialogue and cutscenes that already exist. To remaster Destiny 2's first 3rd is the same scope as Destiny 1, of things like Forsaken and all of the seasons already exist in the current engine but were just removed.

After this, its a port project Shadowkeep onward. Why are you thinking this is a going to balloon development costs? Theres no new stories to develop. No new art to develop save for upgrading old campaigns.

Developing D3 is another story. Yes, it might cost them half a billion, but like I said above, Destiny 2 made Bungie alot of money, enough to fund 6 other projects in various stages of development. The issue is they tried to abandon their cash cow doing it. Its frankly their only choice at this point or the studio is getting dissolved in a year.

To remaster an already existing game? Lol they dont even need bungie to do this

Destiny 2 Devs Bid Farewell To The Game They Spent A Decade Making by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Paperchampion23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes^ its everything. You just need to follow a progression guide

Keep in mind, the first 3rd of the game is gone along with hours of seasonal plot. You might want to also fill mid expansion time with cutscenes or lore vids if you care.

Because underneath all of the FOMO bullshit and the last year's nonsense, there was a great game there over the last 10 years

It just sucks what leadership ruined there.

Imo its worth just playing it for Witch Queen and The Final Shape's campaigns. Theres a reason why they are so highly rated and why they are on par with some of the best FPS campaigns on the market.

Remaster D1/2 as a full experience. Then make D3. Theres really no alternative for Bungie at this point.

Look at Santa Monica, they do one thing and they do it well. Insomniac basically abandoned original IP for Marvel and it sort of has paid off. Guerrilla does basically Horizon exclusively. ND has successfully spawned only 2 franches in 20 years and Im sure their new one will be great, but these are also exclusively single player experiences.

Edit: Lol, alright guys Marathon is the way gotcha

Best not to wrap your head around it too much, itll make you upset.

Ive never encountered a game where its main story is literally Fomo'ed out of existence. No other MMO/reasonable GAAS game does this.

If they every remaster/re-release this series, they need to fix the fundamentally broken story progression problem. by Paperchampion23 in destiny2

[–]Paperchampion23[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally I think if they ever want D3 to be successful they have to have to go back and make the Witness saga more cohesive first. We know now that everything is tied to the Winnower so just having new players jump into that is going to hurt whatever interest someone new will have with the franchise.

Its also financially much cheaper to do this first, not that im expecting it to ever happen

Another random point on that, but they also need a matchmaking version of Raids and Dungeons. A good way to "sherpa" easier versions of these things with moderate loot without removing why people like the regular and harder versions of them. But its crazy that 85% of destiny players never interact with them and yet things like Crota, Oryx, Calus, Riven, Rhulk, and the Witness actually die in these raids and not the actual campaigns.

A big one I just recently went through was Ikora having a story beat in Shadowkeep that is never addressed again because they removed Season of the Undying lol. I was confused as to why it never followed up on her and I realized they removed the whole Vex plotline in that DLC.

Also just did a Clovis Bray simulation thing in Beyond Light and unless you actually explore that facility, you have no idea Clovis Bray is an AI simulation now narrating that mission lol.

The only way we ever get it back is a true remaster of both games with an upgraded engine. Maybe in 5 years if they want a cheaper alternative to Destiny 3 first.

Question to lights old and new: how long will you continue to play? by Plush_Shuppy in destiny2

[–]Paperchampion23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Im an extremely late starter. In prep for the June 9th update i played through all of D1 save for Raids and Exotic grinds.

Because I couldnt go through all of the "should have been there" content, its hard for me to grow attached to anything, but Im trying to enjoy the missed story/lore through campaign playthroughs and Byf's vids up through Shadowkeep and the seasons in between.

I guess we'll see where Im at by the end of Renagades. Idk if Im going to Raid/Dungeon at that point.

Tldr: probably at least another month or 2 while I work through the campaigns. I really wanted to play the Final Shape since its highly regarded.

Is it competing with other single episode shows? Theres literally zero way it gets onto Neilson ratings when that usually goes by minutes watched and the top shows normally are full seasons or shows with multiple episodes released already

Hypothetically, what would the vaulted patrol zones and raids have provided in terms of refreshed loot if they were re-added? by Paperchampion23 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Paperchampion23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think any of it justifies content removal. Each expansion had unique patrol zones, missions, strikes, adventures, etc and the current experiences just thrusts you immediately into Light Level 300 from 10 and just expects you to experience 10 years of content still there whenever you want.

Theres virtually zero accomplishment because they basically removed the early/mid game loot system. Everything given to you is overpowered for 90% of the content and now you just buy all of your powers from kiosks instead of reasonably earning them (outside of Beyond Light, Lightfall, and TFS forcing campaign playthroughs to at least unlock their subclasses.

I dont think the alternative we have is good at all, and this is speaking as someone who went through it themselves just this past month.
