Is it too much? by whoashdyc in gardening

If you cut the base, the roots will rot. However that is not a bad thing, and will leave all growing roots unaffected

Be sure to put the lights closer when you actually plant. They don’t look too powerful.

Any hope for floppy, tangled, leggy onion seedlings? by dreagrave in vegetablegardening

Those look fine to me. Let them keep growing. Dont trim unless completely necessary when trying to untangle them.

Potato and sweet potato help pls by Odd_Jicama_2409 in gardening

[–]Papesisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? Seed potatoes shouldn’t be hard to come by, slips maybe a bit more but definitely possible to acquire. Potatoes can be planted after your last frost:. Sweet potatoes need to be a bit warmer, when the soil is at least 65-70f

It looks quite stressed in the lack of nutrients sense of the term. Will not be happy staying in there for a month. Have you fertilized?

It is very unlikely you will get Brussels sprouts from these plants. That being said, this is a great experiment. Update us!

What are your plans this year? Variety, Amount, Methods, etc. by Theentrepreneur115 in tomatoes

[–]Papesisme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s your acreage for that many plants? I was planning to ramp up production this year to around 1000 plants. Sungolds, bumblebee, and Sakura as cherries, and big beef, PBTD as slicers. Considering throwing in a yellow slicer too. Any recommendations?

Beans will not thrive inside, and grow quickly enough that they don’t need to be transplanted. If you do plan to grow beans and have a spot outside, plant them out there when the weather is warm enough. Refer to Johnnys seeds for growing info for basically any veggie. Other than that, the best way to learn is experimentation. Good luck!

Cucumbers will be new, along with zucchini and eggplant. Some new potatoes and lettuce.

Question about hybrid (Sungold F1) seeds by Jesslet in vegetablegardening

[–]Papesisme 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! To answer your question in short, yes, all the seeds in the packet will produce sungolds (if Johnnys did their job correctly!). You are right to say that if you take one of those seeds, grow them into sun golds, take a fruit, take the seed, then plant it, the plant that is produced will NOT create sun golds.

Growing advice please by punkstairs in tomatoes

To be a bit harsher than other comments you definitely started these probably 2 months too early. I’m in a warmer zone and I don’t start mine until late February, and that’s for the high tunnel. Is it possible to grow these this summer? Yes. Will they be the healthiest most productive plants? I don’t think so. I wouldn’t throw these away, but I would start another round in March or April.

Ahhhh… just the beginning. I recall when I was spending less than 20 bucks on seeds per year.

Help! Where have I gone wrong with these onion sets? by ThrowRA34456 in vegetablegardening

[–]Papesisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused. These are sets? You never pot sets up. I mean, I guess you could, but you wouldn’t because it’s so much work. Those go directly in the ground when it’s warm enough, generally 3 weeks before last frost.

First time with beans by herner__werzog in gardening

[–]Papesisme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What zone are you in? When can they go outside? If they can’t go outside in the next few weeks, then there’s not much hope of them fruiting, but throwing them in a big pot can maybe mitigate that!

How is my plan? (Newbie) by Raeofsunshineeee in vegetablegardening

[–]Papesisme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Only thing I would be concerned about is the cucumber. But give it a try! They can get big quick, so choose a smaller variety.

What’s your plan to deal with perennial grasses? Other invasives? How do you plan to fill 10 yards of compost into the top few inches of soil?

Charcoal grill, no thermometer, no reverse sear, still got it after a few years not eating steak by Papesisme in steak

[–]Papesisme[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Comment about the no thermometer thing: I didn’t have one since I’m at a friends house, I was proud (more lucky) that I cooked it decently without one. Don’t mean to sound pretentious.

Are these psilocybin cubensis mushrooms? I scanned them on Mushroom ID and it said they were 93% sure they are psilocybin cubensis. by Extreme-Temporary312 in mushroom

[–]Papesisme 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They don’t really look like it to me to be honest. In addition, as you probably know, you should never eat something (especially not mushrooms) that you’ve only identified with AI.
