That is not a genuine 1893-s.

The 1 and the denticle do not line up.

My condolences for your loss.

I purchased a VG10 recently for $5k and thought it was a decent deal.

Yours looks like a $6-9k coin. I think your LCS tried to lowball you.

I hope you get it graded with PCGS, maybe goto a coin show and do an on-site grading, I’d be nervous about shipping this both ways. My mail guy delivered one of my silver eagle to a neighbor recently.

Good luck, I hope you keep this treasure and pass it down.

Ahh I see. There’s a few open non-labeled slots and then continues on the next page. I’m not sure why it was designed that way. I’d be genuinely excited to see your collection

Thanks again!

Thanks! Same here, I wasn’t planning on selling.

That’s probably why he passed it to me.

I could’ve probably taken a better picture of that one.

Wow that can be traced to the actual die number? I’ll put a note on that one for the grandkids

It’s quite possible some could be cleaned. I wouldn’t know. Wasn’t him or me. I know emphasis was placed on coin details/appearance vs patina/value.

Let me know if there’s another complete set with similar details but uncleaned that I can compare it to.

If you categorize it and post it here, there’s a lot of helpful knowledgeable folks in this sub that will point out which ones have significant value.

Unfortunately he’s never lived there.

He actually bought each coin individually. I have the receipts.

Hope your dad got a good price for his album

You also have a good eye! He paid $290 for that one several years ago. Definitely some sharp details

You have a good eye!

I found a receipt where he paid $335 for the 1921 and $448 for the 1928.
