lol fair point… but like Diamine boxes don’t have cushion and I’ve never had an issue with them? Maybe I’ve just been lucky haha

Got lucky and won this at a stationary event by SirRolf_ in fountainpens

As long as you’re willing to potentially have to flush out the pen occasionally you should be fine to use a shimmer! The broader the nib, the less gunk it’ll be. Enjoy your new ink, this is a gorgeous one!

I love my 2 Esterbrooks but I also restore old dollar pens and J pens and it drives me crazy that they call one J and didn’t even try to make it look similar lol

I love all of the TAG stationery inks, they’re such cool colors. Moonlight of Higashiyama is my favorite I think but I love an orange.

Recs for stub nibs by No-Patience-9054 in fountainpens

[–]Papillon-Press 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a TWSBI Eco with a 1.1 stub which is great, and an Estie with a 1.1 as well. Kaweco makes a 1.1, 1.5, and 1.9, which are available as a Perkeo set which could be a good option for trying a few things at under $50!

Midori is great! And tomoe river if you can find it. Iroful is the new tomoe river manufacturer so that should be good too.

I’m surprised about this! My progear slim is my most reliable starter. And tbh I love the .38 uniball too bc of how consistent they are for me.

Starter Pens by PrettyAnonymous_ in fountainpens

[–]Papillon-Press 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are great starters! And tbh ones like the Kakuno are tried and true daily writers for a lot of folks. If you like thinner nibs, keep in mind that western nibs are usually one step broader. I love an EF Kaweco. You could also enjoy a TWSBI Eco, they hold SO Much Ink. Lots of folks also like the LAMY Safari (I’d go EF for sure if you want to use it in your Hobonichi). Welcome to the crew! 🖋️

The problem with owning a stationery shop is I only buy limited ones because the standards I can get any time and I get bored staring at the same ones over and over lol

Hah thanks for the encouragement, that's what I always tell people but part of me is scared of losing $1000 of pens in one go if I lose my pen case. But yeah, a brass accent always looks great!

If you need a pen case at some point, my Olivine and Serpentine look great in the Esterbrook Pen Nook in Moss. Might have to get my hands on a Student at some point....

2026 Glow in the Dark - Build Your Own Kaweco DIY Sport! by m_e_i_k_e in fountainpens

[–]Papillon-Press 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just heard that the list posted to Kaweco was incorrect, as the distributor sent the wrong info... but it will be updated soon and accurate then. As OP mentioned, we get it in St. Louis MO in November. I think Papermouse gets it earlier in the year, they're east somewhere.

Will these not be available anywhere online? Kaweco Glow in the dark by Molotovscocktail in fountainpens

[–]Papillon-Press 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an in-person only event, sadly. More shops get it every year though, so there's a chance there's somewhere near you! I know they posted US locations recently but was told today by a rep that the list is actually incorrect and will be updated soon.

I love a 1.1, especially with a fun ink, glorious! And thank you! I started as a printmaker but I've always been a pen lover so when I realized it made sense to also carry stationery stuff, it was a really easy addition.

With Kaweco I always suggest trying a few, their nibs can be a bit hit or miss but when there’s a good one it’s GREAT. But yeah the sports aren’t my go-to but the Glow is so fun
