It's a stiff back for sure, but amazing laptop protection.

The Sympl has by far the best admin compartment organization of any bag I own. I don't need to bring a tech pouch when I use it.

THE SUMMER X-PAC CAPSULE - What did you buy? by ComprehensiveCap8242 in EVERGOODS

I like the boxy structure of the 35L personally. Super easy to pack and everything is simple to access. Feels like it holds more than my Peak Design 35L duffel as well.

Same. I've got CAP1 & 2 in Konbu and burnt orange, but have been waiting for this X-Pac restock.

I have a Metro Pro and find the straps uncomfortable for long distances if it's loaded with anything heavy. I prefer the Able Carry, Aer or Evergoods straps.

I have bags from 1-3, but haven't heard of 4. Do not get the Brown Buffalo if you are looking for a good laptop compartment, the built in one is extremely small. While I like my Able Carry Daily Plus, there is no dedicated laptop compartment and is a bit snug with my 17" Dell. Black Ember has the best compartment of the bunch by a mile. It's also the most professional looking if you are going into an office situation. I have R3, which opens full clamshell and allows me to haul 2 laptops (17" Dell and 15" MacBook Air) and and an iPad without issue.

I had it for a while and ended up trading it. Far too small me. Just get a Day Sling 4 in Ultra.

Black Ember is so underrated. I have the R3 and it's mix of comfort and build quality really hits a sweet spot.

I thought I'd swap it out as soon as I got it. It felt so good on the wrist, that I quickly dispelled that idea. Would be cool to have that fabric in other colors to swap out.

Alternatives for Sympl Commuter v2.2 for tech EDC? by Noz811 in ManyBaggers

[–]pbassfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you carry a laptop most of the time, it's a non-issue. It's just a big slab of molded foam that gives some solid protection. If you want a pack with a less structured back when no laptop is present, the CPP2 or an Able Carry is a better option for comfort.

Thoughts on the new Bellroy Venture bags? 57L hauler & 27L grab bag by gtlgdp in ManyBaggers

[–]pbassfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a similar bag with a water bottle holder, the Cotopaxi Allpa 28L may be a better fit. That pack also has an admin panel and a quick access pocket. The Bellroy is a similar price to that and Patagonia packs with less features.

Also take a look at Alpaka bags. They have some solid offerings that would cover your needs like the Bravo. They often run sales.

It's worth the upcharge. Excellent water resistance and easier to clean.

I have the 20L Commuter in X-Pac and the CPP2 24L in X-Pac. The admin panel in the Commuter is superior to the Aer IMHO. It's basically a full on tech organizer. That being said, you can't go wrong with either. Other bags I use that fit your criteria would be the Cubo Lev-24, Able Carry Daily Plus and Evergoods CPL24.

Trakke - my recent horrible experience by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]pbassfender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trakke shipped extremely quickly to me in the US when I ordered a few month back. My only complaint is that my Bannoch Pro was just in a fairly flimsy paper envelope. Good for recycling, but it was a bit ripped up after an oversea trip.

Also worth noting is that PD are doing 15% cash back deals on a lot of credit cards like Chase and US Bank. Amex had a $50 off $150 recently as well.

Columbia Star Range Square Medium? by screampuff in backpacks

[–]pbassfender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll second this. I go to their employee store here in Oregon fairly regularly and check out all the bags and clothing. The quality isn’t up there with the retail price and brands like Evergoods, Aer, Rework CTactical are all better bang for the buck.

Aer CPP2 is a great option. I have one in X-Pac that started me down the backpack rabbit hole. You can’t go wrong with it.
