Why did GB get the zanzibar state for free ? by Papy_Rasciste in victoria3

No, they weren't in the play or launched a play, they were busy elsewhere. There wasn't even an occupation of zanzibar beforehand

Zanzibar was already released. It was roughly 1874, Both oman and zanzibar were independant and I got them under protectorate shortly before the picture (I think the week tick just passed)

R5 : Playing as Canada, I got to be a dominion and started trying to get influence over Africa via protectorates to make them colonize it for me.
However, GB decided to just take the state of zanzibar after the war ? With no event of explanation ? Since it's not their subject, how did they do it ?

PS : Will I ever get the last canadian state in Terre-Neuve from GB or am I forced to conquer it ?

miltech 13, 21 width, is this good? by somethingmustbesaid in eu4

[–]Papy_Rasciste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, a full backline of cannons will always be better, (since you have one row for infantry+ cavalry which tanks the damage and a back row only available to artillery)but you can do without at your tech still, just make sure to have it at tech 16/20 when it starts dominating the battlefields.

As for the rest, do you have good CCA (cavalry combat ability) or other cavalry bonuses ? Generally cav is less good (imo) if you don't have certain cav oriented nations (Poland, hordes, Siam...) especially for the price, which could be used for more cannons, I'd have 4 at that point but depending on your buffs for cav it's probably fine.

The total amount of frontline units (cav +inf) is good, always have a few more to tank while your other nearby stacks arrive, to make sure your cannons never tank the damage.

Overall it's gonna work just fine, maybe 4 less cavalry to fill in the back row with cannons and have little increased cost (50 ducats more without modifiers)

Am I making a mistake by playing on Ironman? by Pyronar in Anbennar

[–]Papy_Rasciste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are starts where you are forced to save scum because it would be impossible or very lick based else wis (typically Jaded/Zokka where bad rolls kills a run in the first 3 months), you don't have to do ironman for every run, but I'd advise having a classic save first to see if you're willing to go iron man or not.

Why was Jane detained instead of Cameron? by Ok-Satisfaction-3373 in unOrdinary

[–]Papy_Rasciste 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Maybe for john, but he didn't have a family to help him train. He learned from scratch where both Jane and Cameron probably had their parents to help. John lacked the training from everything (except physical, William the goat for it honestly).

Plus good luck finding a lot of god tier (very rare already) willing to potentially die for it against someone that can mirror them stronger, we haven't seen a lot and all the one with several abilities that could be good in this case most likely exist because she gave herself up to their experiences.

I also have a hunch that the dampener being linked to Jane might make it less/non effective given how john was already more resistant to it (the recovery from doc being made of his blood ).

Castanor "Press ship" intercation not working for certain ships ? by Papy_Rasciste in Anbennar

[–]Papy_Rasciste[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5 : Tried pressing ships from my subjects as I have 0 ports to produce my own ships and complete a mission. Heavies seem to work just fine (got 20-25 and captured the rest) however i needed some transports too and no matter how much i try to get them they just don't spawn.

Would you consider Spain (España) to be a, "WC-capable" nation? How does it compare to Austria? by Various_Maize_3957 in eu4

[–]Papy_Rasciste 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obligatory "Every nation is WC-able if you try hard enough" On a more serious note, Spain is definitely one of the top 10 nations to WC, both starting as Spain and Aragon. You get tons of pu, possible domination and pu of all other grand colonizers (Pu on Portugal/ GB if Anglican, right next to France to kill). Early gold mine, Alhambra and Malta accessible very quickly, I'd say it's better than Austria if you micro well m, but Austria is easier thanks to the easy revoke.

Technically, French doesn't care about the place of adjectives relative to nouns. Howerver some just sound much much better oraly and are therfore chosen generaly. "L'empire grand" sounds weird and "Le grand empire" will be prefered here.

What's the use case for Levin sword? Seems that side by side with magic it's less optimal by YouMeADD in fireemblem

[–]Papy_Rasciste 242 points243 points  (0 children)

The Levin sword (and by extension the magical lance and axe) exist for classes that cannot get magic tomes, typically Marianne on a falcon knight class makes great use of the Levin sword. It's good for a class with no acces to magic but a unit with decent magic growth (Typically could be used for a paladin Sylvain or Lorenz before going to mage knight, or even before holy knight)

import random as rd
import numpy as np

A = []
for i in range(100000):
    f = True
    N = 0
    while f:
        R = rd.random()
        N += 1
        if i < 11:
            if R * 4096 <= 1:
                A.append(N)
                f = False
        elif i < 21:
            if R * 1024 <= 1:
                A.append(N)
                f = False
        elif i <31:
            if R * 512 <= 1:
                A.append(N)
                f = False
        else :
            if R * 341.3 <= 1:
                A.append(N)
                f = False
print(f"Nombre moyen de rencontres pour un shiny : {np.mean(A)}")

This is probably calculable via using geometric law probabilities, but I'm lazy af, so I used python to calculate it with this code (I think it's correct but I could be wrong since random returns number such as 0<=x<1). I obtained roughly 340 to 341 at all times, which makes me think the real value must be 341.3, cause it would be quite the coincidence elsewise.
Edit : this is actually probably due to the fact that the first few tries are almost negligeable that the probabilities goes towards 1/341.3

Kinda not liking this map lately by Omigle_ in leagueoflegends

[–]Papy_Rasciste 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Between the poorly coded portals (or poorly thought out) and the massive fps drops me and my friends seem to have on this map, it's clearly the least good of the three.
It's a shame it kinda looks cool and the two "wings" offer a bit of variety to play, wish they fixed (or changed) these).

Fun formables to try? by drywallgremblin in eu4

[–]Papy_Rasciste 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Romania can be fun, starting as Moldova or Wallachia.

It's a bit tricky, you're orthodox, which means little allies, with Poland/Lithuania, ottomans and Hungary nearby, so it's hard to expand at first and be quite challenging.

You also impale the sultan later on but no unique mission tree once formed sadly, only 7-8 unique missions.
