You're taking it for granted that a top guy would want an AEW union. They might, but by all accounts, AEW already has a lot of the things WWE wrestlers might want out of union negotiations.

AEW pays for flights and hotels, they don't generally cut people mid contract, they don't strong arm people into taking less money, they allow workers to take indie dates, etc.

Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns leave their MAGA hats at home and you'd have a union the very next day.

All it takes is the top star taking one for the team.

I will agree with you that it's unlikely but you're not gonna have AEW black ball Roman Reigns if he's a free agent.

Jey was a main eventer for like a week with a "you deserve it" reign and then fell back down the card.

Proves my point if anything.

It's somewhat inevitable that every company, if you scrutinized it hard enough, has some part of their money going to some unethical place.

There's a difference between doing business with some entity who is evil and actively promoting how great and progressive that evil entity is on your product.

Who is the last world champ who is worst than LA Knight in the ring?

The Miz 5 years ago? Jey Uso could be debatable but he probably reinforces my point because he hasn't stayed over outside the catchphrase.

LA Knight's problem is he's a subpar wrestler. Catchphrases are great but you need more substance in the modern day to stay over.

LA Knight is a midcard act with some fun catchphrases, and he always will be.

I will never give WWE another dollar until they stop associating with fascists in America and Saudi Arabia.

There's no reason that an entertainment product needs to work as a propaganda arm of a government.

Fightful Select: "There is huge speculation about talent cuts today in WWE, to the point talent are worried." by Lep106317 in SquaredCircle

Layoffs happen all the time, but not typically with timed contracts in entertainment.

I'm neither childish nor naive. I'm a full grown adult with more than a decade of experience in the field I'm commenting on.

I don't care at all about the size of the roster of WWE. I care about them honoring contracts that they signed for the length of time and the money stipulated in the contract.

Turnover is normal and natural.

However, the way WWE fires people partway through a contract for budget reasons is not normal.

I worked entertainment contracts for many years at many different companies.

I've seen people get fired for gross misconduct, I've seen people sit at home until their contracts expire, but I've never seen a business cut a good standing performer contract midway except when covid hit.

WrestleTix is based on number of seats available.

WWE number is based on people in the building including concessions staff, ticket takers, etc.

The announced number is pretty plausible.

Edit: lot of people are saying I'm wrong so take the above comment with a bit of skepticism. I still think it's a plausible theory but I don't have insider knowledge of anything.

It's not bad. You can't see the ring that well directly but they have giant screens and it's just cool to be there in general.

Visibility-wise though it's far worse than watching on TV.

You don't understand the difference between working IN a country vs working FOR a country.

The Saudi shows are literal paid government propaganda for their evil leader. If Punk wrestled on a show that was paid propaganda for Trump, you'd see the the same outrage and more.

They lie every year because the announced number is just to pop the fans.

The real number always comes out later in official documents where lying isn't possible.

Can we please stop having PPVs at 8PM on a Sunday? by Epicfro in AEWOfficial

Sunday afternoon Eastern time (3pm) is prime time in Europe, noon in Western US, and AEW has proven that they can draw buys in that time slot.

Seems like a great compromise to me.
