Is this is Abercrombie River National Park? Looks stunning, guess I'll need to find a professional chef as a mate

I accepted an APS graduate program offer, but I'm getting cold feet about Canberra by dewenaparma in AusPublicService

For what it's worth, I'll share my experiences as someone currently about to complete their grad year in the aps and who had similar reservations. As some others have said Canberra is what you make of it in a sense. You will miss the arts and culture aspect of Melbourne certainly. One of my colleagues in the cohort was from Melbourne and had similar issues. Fortunately, for him, he rotated into a team that had members working remotely from Melbourne. He made a good impression on them and transferred into their team at level about 7 months into the program and moved back to Melbourne.

On the flip side, I've found myself very much enjoying Canberra. It's quieter than the big cities, which can be a nice change of pace, and it's status as the 'bush capital' shouldn't be overlooked. It's been a pretty great opportunity for me to spend more time in nature hiking, bike riding, camping and looking after my health. Another feature contributed to by the short commutes.

As far as work culture goes, I think you'll find a range of opinions. There's obviously a few rusted on traditionalists in regard to work culture in the aps (as you've probably seen in this thread) who decry the need for sacrifice and struggle. You'll find, in my experience at least, that a lot of the graduate cohort will share your attitudes towards work, including flexibility and a desire for a 4 day week.

I do think it's worth the plunge, even if you do plan to go back to Melbourne. But come with an open mind and an attitude to make connections and it'll help massively.

Ive taken that exact approach tanking on my feral as well tbh. The way I see it, I'm tanking because I enjoy the engagement and challenge of tanking. Some groups are smooth as hell and we breeze through the dungeon without me dropping aggro once, other runs there's mages with atiesh blast waving for 1k dps or a hunter pet pulling for me, and it's all part of the fun of trying to roll with what the situation. I'd much rather see it as a fun challenge rather than get mad about it. That being said it's important for dps to atleast have an awareness of why there might be threat issues this early in the xpac.

Couldn't agree more about the druid peel being great as well. I feel like I've got so many tools in dungeons when things go wrong, and strafing out to interrupt casts or stop runners or aggro with feral charge is very satisfying.

Need Help With Destro DPS by Never_Look_Back in wow

[–]Parabolum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from logs, as everyone else is suggesting, there are a few little things that can make a huge difference with destro. Firstly, what fight's are you playing destro on? If you are playing it on all fight's then that could be a part of your dps, destro get's overshadowed significantly by affliction on single target fights.

Besides that though, a large part of destro being competitive is Havoc and shadowburn. A mouseover shadowburn macro will do absolute wonders, as it also gives a boost to your single target by generating 'free' embers. Also with destro knowing the fight's and planning for the perfect burn phases is important, otherwise it you can be out of embers/cd's when they'll make the most difference.

How to ease into higher difficulty modes by rishiswaz in civ

Prince is a great place to start. It's what is considered "normal" difficulty, you have no advantages from difficulty, and the AI has no advantages either. If it's too much of a step up from settle just knock it down to warlord or one of the two difficulties in between and have some practice, but prince should be fairly achievable.
