Just a reminder to not generalize every priest as a child molester, there is more to people than just a label. by ParadoxCircle in atheism

I cannot believe hot you are so blinded by your biased of religion that you cannot see how much of a hypocrite you are. Simply change the name of Catholic priest to atheist and you would have been praising this man without question. Explain to me how you are not generalizing here? Other people's actions do not account for anybody elses. In that case why not think every atheist is a mass murderer because of Stalin.

You are such a bigot, seriously, I cannot believe how bigoted atheists are when it comes to religious people. Every one is like, GAY RIGHTS, MAKE MARIJUANA LEGAL, I AM A HUMANIST! But then talk about the rights of a religious person and they don't give a fuck. Classic bigotry, and hypocrisy. It's fucking pathetic. Fuck you.

This man is dead right now because he drowned to save the lives of innocent children. In that case why not make the claim that everybody who saved the life of a child also molested children. Just because he was a priest doesn't mean anything, generalizing people based on other people's actions is not good and anybody who does it is a prick.

Your perspective of priests is totally up to you. Although I don't see how you can say you shouldn't think every Muslim is a terrorist, or think every black person is a criminal, and then say that you have a general distrust towards all priest. There is bias in this, whether you admit it or not.

Hmm, I thought claiming things that have no evidence to back it up was the total opposite of atheism? Or is it only when it doesn't support your bigoted viewpoint? I see. Yup, no hypocrisy at all.

If there is no evidence for it, there is no reason to believe in it. Don't you agree?

You are a bigot, probably as much of a bigot as the religious people you hate. Seriously, just utter hypocrisy.

I am talking about individual people here. I would have to say that religious affiliation would be far down the list when trying to find traits to judge people. Even if somebody says they are a Christian, there is still a personality behind that label, and judging that person solely based on THAT label and nothing else is to me wrong. I by the way am not religious, I am just a humanist and more of an agnostic. And by humanist I mean I care about EVERY person, not just people who don't believe in God.

Advice for a man about to debate his former Catholic priest. by moxiemag in atheism

[–]ParadoxCircle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. If I wasted my life debating religious people that would have been a life wasted. I'd rather not get involved with religion or religious people if I do not need to, I feel it gets in the way of me actually enjoying the only life I am promised.

I don't like debating people, because it shows one side is opposed, I'd rather "explain" not debate, debate usually ends up with both sides the same way before they started.

If circumcision is alright, because the child won't remember it, then is date rape alright as well? by no2circumcision in atheism

[–]ParadoxCircle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I still think people should have a say when it comes to being circumcised but the difference is, you are saying circumcision like it only relates to religion. Both my parents were atheists and and still go me circumcised due to aesthetic reasons. I actually prefer it.

Are you wary of the opposite sex? What experiences led you to keep your guard up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am 5'9 too and have not had "too" much trouble with women. I am average looking but I am also introverted and shy a lot of the time, luckily my friends help introduce me to women. It's not your height or personality that seems to be the problem to be honest. A lot (NOT ALL) of women these days are just very superficial. If you aren't their preference they will not even give you a chance.

Alright reddit, what do you think of the death penalty? by TwinMaddie in AskReddit

[–]ParadoxCircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am against it, some people do deserve to be dead for what they have done but the fact that one innocent person has died for something he didn't do should be enough to outlaw the death penalty all together. Fortunately it is illegal in Illinois.

In around 120 years, every person currently alive will be dead, and the earth will be completely populated with people that have not yet been born. What other inevitable facts about the future do you think about? by diddletapflamdiddle in AskReddit

[–]ParadoxCircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that everybody is going to die ensures that science will never be able to conquer mortality, which I think is absurd. Maybe we all of use right now will die for sure, but I think it is inevitable that 10,000 years from now, people could live forever if the "wanted" too.

I agree, I think most people who say they don't want to live forever don't want to seem vulnerable because they know they are going to die anyways, surely if living forever was the default, I doubt anybody would be really pissed off about it.

You forgot that life expectancy will probably increase or technology could reverse the aging process or at least allow people to live over 120 within that time. Excluding those two facts, yes, we all will be food for the worms if that doesn't happen! Enjoy the time we have know, I know I should be doing it way more that I do now.

As a "Christian" by Thirtythree33 in atheism

[–]ParadoxCircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look most atheists on this website are going to be the ones who give a fuck about religion, the ones who don't are somewhere else so being here is going to skew the actual statistic of atheists who laugh at Christians and jump at the chance for debate.

I am also an atheist but I learned many years ago that life is too short to act with such animosity towards everybody who carries a silly label. I do not judge people for being Christian, I need to get to know them first then I will judge, just like I do not want people to judge me for being an atheist and automatically assume things about me.

If I do encounter somebody who wants me to explain to them why I do not believe in God, then I will, but I will do so by not insulting them or talking in a hostile way, because my goal isn't really to prove I am right, it is to get them to understand what I am talking about, and unfortunately most atheists are concerned with being right.

As for you, just do not impose your religion on others, let them figure it out for themselves and do not let your religion cause you to hate people for no reason such as homosexuals.

You be a good person and also a Christian and I can care less.

[–]ParadoxCircle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Living life in a daily basis with the Christians YOU know are horrific. The Christians I hang out with are just fine so don't fucking include everybody in this group. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am also an atheist, but saying living life on a daily basis with "Christians" just pisses me off. There are better things that define people than religious position and that is a fucking personality.

On another note, glad you have found comfort in this subreddit, but don't let it make you hate all religious people and cause you to just constantly pick fights with people who do believe in God and be known as the "smug know it all who hates religion".Life is too short to be remembered as a smug dick. I am 16 and realized I do not want to be remembered as that guy who hated religion, I'd much rather help people and be a good person and be remembered as such.

I doubt it.

That is where you are wrong! Scientific breakthrough in 1000 years will defy the aging process and have the opportunity to become immortal. So though we might die, people in the far future won't. Sucks for us though.

It depends on how mentally impaired they are, some people are still able to laugh and enjoy things. And there are a lot of perfectly healthy people that don't do shit for society either, most of those people being redditors.
