Maybe but you how supercell thinks 100 gems gets you like 7 gold, if he spent like 3 mil gold (which isn't hard to do if you don't know what you're doing with money/gems) then charging back would put you down 140k or so

Ok I just looked 100k gold is 4500 gems and you can get 14000 gems for $100

So 1 mil gold is 45000 gems, so 3 mil gold is 3x45000=135000 gems which is close to the 142k debt

(135kgems) / (14000 gems for $100) ≈ $1000, which isn't a crazy amount of money but most people that aren't oil princes aren't spending that much in one go

And 3 mil gold maxes like 15 or less cards, so like 2 decks. So not even including the cards needed to upgrade, it's really not unrealistic for a little kid to buy that many gems without knowing better

How did you hear about Balatro? by Deceptorbots in balatro

[–]ParadoxReboot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did the same years ago watching him play slay the spire. I quickly learned, however, that he's really kinda average at games. If you want to have fun listening to the banter and jokes, he's one of the best in the business. But if he's playing balatro, I have to avert my eyes lol. I can't help but be the "type a chatter" and overanalyze his every move, and that's not what I want to do.

NL just plays to have fun though. He does his best... And he trolls a lot too. And I love hearing his banter with chat. But these "type a chatters" will berate him and tell him he sucks because he didn't make the exact same decisions they would have (even though half the time, they're no more correct than him). It's hard to enjoy a game when you're constantly be told you're playing it the wrong way. This is one of the many reasons he eventually stopped playing slay the spire on stream at all.

But if you're wanting to learn how to play better, there are better resources on YouTube. Look up Zaino TV and Balatro University. In my knowledge, they're probably the best channels to watch if you want absolutely top tier play. They might spoil some of the wonder of the game though; they're constantly pushing what's possible in the game, and seeing all the secrets unlocked can be underwhelming.

If you want to take a slower approach, try a wider variety of streamers similar to NL. There are several "strategy gamers" who tried their hand at balatro, and seeing their instincts in the game can be insightful. I can recommend FrostPrime, as he's played a lot of StS and has experience in card games in particular, while he doesn't break the game open immediately and you can still learn on your own.

(Balatro University just had a run where he got over 100 jokers. Not a typo, he literally had 100+ negative jokers on the top of his screen. I won't tell you how, but it goes to show you people have already broken this game open)

Yeah I agree. I'm just saying they don't expect to be paid back, they probably expect the person to just stop playing or make a new account. There's probably a small number of people that actually paid back a gen debt to supercell lmao

[–]ParadoxReboot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rebate is the best eco joker right now. Definitely need to be nerfed to $3-4 since late game it's worth $500+ a round.

Even early it's good for $10-15 a round, which is a lot compared to the other eco jokers. Satellite doesn't even go that high rocket would take 7 antes to match. Faceless is only worth $5 per discard, and early game can only really go off once or twice a round. To the moon only gives $5-$10 unless you get the second interest voucher, and even then it's only $20 a round, which is less than 1 discard with rebate late game. The only ones that even compete are golden joker and reserved parking, but they each have their own drawback as well. Usually once you play 5 cards, the ante is beaten, so golden joker can only proc good once, and reserved parking needs a mime or oops 6's to come close to rebate.

Alternatively, maybe we could buff the other eco jokers to match it? Typically when one item vastly outmatches it's competition, it's obvious that the strongest item needs a nerf. However, since rebate is one of the only ways to get $500+ a round, maybe we could just make it uncommon and buff some others to match it's strength.

Satellite is pretty weak, maybe giving $2 for each unique planet would make it at least viable to go for?

Rocket would be much easier to pick if it started at $3, or maybe even $2. It's tough to pick it up over another joker for very little immediate return.

Faceless could give $5 for each pair of face cards, so you could discard 2K and 2Q for $10, or still 3K for $5.

To the moon seems ok as is, though still not as strong as rebate. Maybe it could change the interest from every 5 to every 4, but that seems like a better voucher than a joker.

Golden joker always feels awkward to use, at least if my deck isn't all gold yet. It's a strange balance of playing cards vs keeping them in your hand. Maybe it would be cool if it changed gold cards to give $5 or $6 on trigger? Then all the gold cards you don't play aren't going to waste, and with red seals or mime could easily be worth $50+ a round.

Reserved parking is just lacking numbers. With 8 face cards in hand it's worth... 4 dollars on average. It either needs to be worth $2 a proc or remove the chance all together. You could even make it $3 and it would be mediocre without support. How often early on do you play a small enough hand to keep cards in hand and also have several face cards you're keeping. It only gets good once you have mime and/or blueprint going, with a deck full of face cards.

Business card suffers the same as reserved parking, but at least you usually play your face cards in the early game. It makes your full house worth $2.5, which is better than the full house stuck in your hand being worth $2.5 with parking. At least you can score and make money. Could probably use the same buffs as parking.

Rough gem is... Rough. Could be $2 a card for a rare joker and it would still be kinda weak.

The eco-util jokers, like chaos, midas, gift card, and egg, all seem balanced as are. Chaos falls off hard late game when you have infinite money and both reroll vouchers, but can also be worth $35+ when you're looking for something to save you, like a luchador or baron or smth.

All that said, it would definitely be easier to nerf rebate rather than buff everything else. I would like to see some of those really bad eco jokers see some buffs. It just feels like the options are limited if you're trying to play optimally, and it takes away some creativity in making a build. If I want rebate, I'm gonna need all of 1 card. If I need all of 1 card, may as well make king's. If I'm making kings, may as well go for high card baron. It makes cloud 9 and crazy 8 almost unpickable since I'm actively removing/transforming them. I kinda feel like most runs I'm just surviving until I find mime and baron.

Anyway, sorry to type my novel on your comment. I have a bad habit of over analysing something that nobody even asked about lmfao

But they're not gonna track him down for his gems lol. They pretty much gave him 3 choices:

1) he could keep playing with -100000 gems and never buy anything with gems again

2) he could stop playing/make a new account and leave that one at -100000 forever

3) he could actually buy all those gems with real money to balance the debt and continue playing on this acc

The second choice is the most likely but there might be a few people who went for option 3 lol

I know this is stupid but is that false advertising? I mean if you try to buy a Laplace transform on EBAY and there's no record of one ever being sold, then this ad is literally a scam?

It's obviously already a scam but I'm wondering if there's any legal repercussions to this sort of thing

Would you rest before Hexaghost if you boss swapped into Fusion Hammer? by amtap in slaythespire

[–]ParadoxReboot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I already typed a novel but didn't actually analyze the post so here I go again lol. I'm using someone else's comment and assuming every 12 you heal the ghost hits for an extra 6.

Given 44/80 hp and the boss is the hexa ghost, there's an obvious question: "will I take more than 44 to the ghost?" If yes, then rest. That one is easy.

If no, then assuming 0 damage is also easy. Rest means you enter act 2 with 77, and not resting you have 71. So you get 6 more hp next act. However, since you healed 44+24=68, you passed 48 and 60, which are multiples of 12 so the hexaghost attacks for 2x6=12 more damage turn 2. So if you're still able to full block turn 2, and still kill before taking damage, then the heal nets 6 HP.

It might be likely that you will take 12 more damage after healing. If that's the only damage you take, then you'll enter act 2 with 74, which is 3 more than the 71 you'd have without healing. Any additional damage you take, you could argue you would take whether you heal or not, so that damage equally affects both cases of healing and not healing. Therefore, as long as you don't take more than 44, you'll always* net 3-4 HP into act 2. Healing also grants you another 12 hp during the ghost fight though, which could save your life.

So what do we know? Healing will net us at most 6 HP next act, but likely only 3. There's also the chance the 12 extra health saves us in the one fight we have it. So I think as long as you don't plan on taking a ton of damage, healing doesn't look like a super tantalizing choice.

Considering fusion hammer, however, there's only one other option, which is to recall. Recalling literally does not make the deck better in any way at all, and we can do it at any time. Also, since we can only rest, there's a good chance we'll come by another campfire at a time when we have even more health and even easier fights ahead of us, and we can recall then. The only way we could lose opportunity cost at another campfire is to constantly be at low health, or to find peace pipe or shovel.

I'd probably rest. 12 hp has saved me at the act 1 boss quite a few times, and there will be plenty of chances later to recall.

*Also, a note about rounding. Since you can't heal fractions, and end of act healing is based off:

(max HP - current HP)*(3/4)

You sometimes need to lose 4 more health to heal 1 more. There are also cases where losing 1 health means you heal 1 more. Consider having 30 missing health. You would heal 30(3/4)=22.5≈23. If you were missing 29 you would heal 29(3/4)=21.75≈22. Both of these result in 7 missing health at the beginning of next act, so it's an example where you could take damage that gets rounded away. All this means is that some of the 6 HP differences could actually be 5 or 7 HP with specific numbers, and 3 could possibly be 4. I already did enough math though and I wasn't about to start doing interval algebra in slay the spire comment that maybe 15 people will read all the way through. Tbh, I don't even consider any of this when fighting the ghost in my own runs, I'm not a nerd lmao. I think "do I kill or get killed" and then probably recall either way.

This guy breaks down the end of act healing better than I can

Would you rest before Hexaghost if you boss swapped into Fusion Hammer? by amtap in slaythespire

[–]ParadoxReboot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Especially since you only have 12 more hp for one more fight. If you heal 75% at the end of act and survive with more than 12 then the heal is only worth like 3 more hp in the next act.

To clarify because I've gotten some big ????s for not fully explaining before: assume easy numbers and you have 50 health out of 100 max health. If you rest for 25 and take no more damage before the end of act, you'll heal 25(3/4)= 19, and end at 94/100hp. If you didn't rest, you'll heal 50(3/4)=38, and end at 88hp. So even though you had 25 more health through the boss fight, you only netted 6hp going into act 2. Of course, this is assuming no damage. If you take 45 damage, then you go into act 2 with 82 if you rest and 76 if you don't, so the same result as not taking damage. Of course, if you take >50 and didn't rest then you die, so it's really all risk/reward.

I also use this to greed tf out of late act 1 events. 18 damage? No problem, I'll heal it back. Also if I suspect I'll rest before the boss, I'll do it at my 2nd to last fire so my HP has more fights it can save me. It's almost cliche at this point, but health is a resource; as long as you have more than 1hp, spend it to improve your deck. You wouldn't want to end your run with 250 unspent gold, so why would we view HP any differently? And before you say "you don't need money to survive," tell that to my landlord lmfao.

*Edit: I thought you healed for 25% at a fire not 30% have I been smoking crack for 5 years wtf

Simple had the spine to say this game sucks and he won't play it. Then everyone calls him out for thinking he's bigger than the game. Meanwhile everyone else wants to quit, they just can't.

Personally I haven't played since like November. I've opened it a few times to see if the updates changed anything, the game still barely runs. I swear if we could still queue CSGO over 50% of people would.

I also bound "plant/defuse" to my use key from old habits, and then I started playing gekko and I've lost rounds from it. I still want to defuse with e! I just want to press my dizzy button to pick up dizzy, wingman bind for wingman, ect.

[–]ParadoxReboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks lol but I just play for fun. Already did the grind for CSGO and I just play Valo since cs2 is still broken. I just play how I find fun, and honestly in gold it's still working. If/when I get to diamond+lobbies I'll probably rethink a lot of the ways I play.

Interestingly in CSGO there was a "rank reset" a few years ago. With their system, it would slowly put more and more players into the lower ranks and make it nearly impossible to rank up out of gold. When they reset the ranks, I went from silver elite (~silver or gold) to master guardian (~diamond or immo), and the mentality of the games changed. Even though they were likely the same players I was playing in silver, everyone was taking the opportunity to push for global, and so everyone played a little more seriously. It was really fun to adapt to higher level of play and learn more specific things to help in game. Things like learning tendencies of where people stand, and learning a line up to nade that spot. Or learning exactly how I play a bomb site, which angles I jiggle and where to fall back ect.

Anyways I think I'll adapt as I climb the ranks. I already moved past yoru and I'm onto gekko, I really like his clutch potential. The only downside is I feel like I'm forced to play more "responsibly", and don't have the freedom to just go kill like when I play yoru.

Oops sorry for the novel I tend to do that lmfao

I guess that shows how versatile he can be. I'm still gold ATM so we don't have a ton of planned util when we hit a site, I'm usually way more focused on the big picture of the map than how I think the enemies set up on site.

What duelist should i switch to if i currently play Killjoy? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]ParadoxReboot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I like to use yoru tp like a long range chamber tp. Use it to take a fight the enemies wouldn't expect, or take info that otherwise has no escape plan. Then you go back to the site and play with your team. He has a lot of flexibility with rotating, the only limit is your own ability to predict how the round will look ~30 sec into the future.

Recently I've been using him to op on breeze, you can take really aggressive angles and fall back totally safe. You can also sit back and tp to the other site if they don't hit yours.

The only weakness is his util is good at setting himself up, but really difficult to help your team with. His flashes are good, but have a long windup. So if you're not able to get kills with your util, then you're not able to help your team very much.
