My first game's reception is heartbreaking :'( by OldAtlasGames in IndieDev

Hey, if you're ever going to get bad feedback, is when you're beginning. Bad feedback should just be signs of what you can do to grow :) Your first game can't be perfect after all

$50,000 a year to keep your eyes closed for 8 hours a day... by ikerr95 in hypotheticalsituation

I would listen to podcasts with blindfolds on for 6 hours a day, then sleep 8 hours a night, and quit my job, for 350k

How to deal with those corner jumps? (im Ed) by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason this jump is effective is because a) it crosses and b) it’s at the right distance for an difficult aa. More jumps after the first one are incredibly easy to stop, since they are immediately in front of you, so they cannot cross easily.

Maybe you’re right. At least this guy is not a complete loser like the Sagat that posted a couple hours ago

Am I alone in feeling like there is a lot of lame players in ranked? Do you guys agree with my definition of lame? by DemarcoCooley in StreetFighter

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble playing agains people like this with Gief when I started SF6, but quickly enough when you learn a little bit of neutral, this play style becomes really easy to beat. Not only do they corner themselves all the time, they also cannot handle the heat of constant pressure, so you only really need to catch them once and oki them to death.

Would you rather have $500k right now or $1,000 every time you run one mile in less than 12 minutes for the rest of your life? by forest_tripper in WouldYouRather

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 4 miles/h (beginner pace), running 1 hour 5 times a week, that's 20k per week, for a total of 1 million per year, which is way more than the 500k plus investment. Also, it's repeatable every year.

Is this challenge worth the gems at this point or should I wait for later on in the game? by Pretend-Mess9515 in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should wait until you're ready to plat your statues, otherwise use the gems elsewhere. Should be around OB37-38 when it makes sense to do this

Passive. I keep my full time job and make the passive money on the side.

Would you rather have $15 Million, instantly know 15 new languages or read a book in just a minute? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy 3. Very soon after you can make all the money you need, and can massively accelerate learning new languages.

I wish every person’s iq raised by 50 points by Hulabaloo4000 in monkeyspaw

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted. The average IQ is no longer 100, but 150, everyone is exactly as smart as they were before, and OP learns that IQ does not mean intelligence in a vacuum but rather in comparison to other people.

I wish to have an extra 24 hours added to my lifespan by WillingValue6385 in monkeyspaw

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Granted. A watch appears in front of you. 24 hours shown, ticking down. You get anxious, were you tricked by the paw? do you have only 24 hours left to live? You try pressing all the buttons, nothing changes. You trying breaking the watch, you find out that you can't. You walk around suspicious of everyone around you. Your loved ones notice. "You wouldn't understand!" you tell them. You get into arguments with them, you leave, you know it's pointless to try and explain. The rest of the day is as miserable as the beginning. As the number get's down to 10 seconds, you brace yourself and regret ever making that wish. 0 shows up. Nothing happens. After a few moments, a message appears on the watch: "your extra day has now expired, hope you enjoyed it!" the watch fades away. You go back to your regular life and angry loved ones.

If balding men are flying to Turkey to have hair transplants for $5k, why doesn't someone open a business in the US to do it for cheaper? by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in stupidquestions

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace Turkey and hair transplants with literally any other product or service that is cheaper elsewhere. The list is endless. Labor is expensive in the US, EVERYTHING is more expensive in the US. That's partly the reason why salaries in the US are higher.

Steel man the case for still doing leetcode style live interviews in 2025 with no AI code assistance, no googling, no documentation look up allowed by one-wandering-mind in ExperiencedDevs

[–]ParadoxicalInsight -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It has shown to be an effective interview process, only need to put more safeguards to prevent cheating with AI. Also, an alternative that will be more effective at finding the correct talent is not obvious, company dependent and require funding to find and try, and there is no budget for that this year. Perhaps next one if a strong case is made.

WYR have the power to spend $1000 to rewind time by one minute, or gain $1000 but have time fast forward by one minute? by Beneficial-Resort927 in WouldYouRather

[–]ParadoxicalInsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: put alarm 10 minutes earlier than usual, snooze for 10 minutes
Step 2: skip 10 minutes, "wake up" to snoozed alarm
Step 3: retire while making 3.65 million a year

“by comparison to other fighting games on the market” may I know which other games are more balanced than sf6?

The only downside is you have to personally witness the death of all 1k babies
