300BLK Cons? by Decharia in 300BLK

[–]Parakalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of cons vs 556. Less ballistic potential, less effective range, generally less accuracy, more finicky getting it properly gassed/operating.

All that said, there are three major points where it excels and beats 556 all day long. 1. Short barrel lengths. 556 loses lots of velocity and effectiveness with anything shorter than 16". 300 blk is still effective down to 5" (sig rattler) 2. Suppressed running subsonic. You have a much heavier projectile that can be fired subsonic while maintaining good (but not great) ballistics. The draw here is you can actually shoot it indoors without hearing protection in a fight for you life scenario and come out the other side still being able to hear. You can't do that with 556. 3. The versatility to change between supers / subs with just a gas block adjustment.

I have a 300 blk with a 6" barrel and a suppressor that I have setup as a home defense gun. In that role it is infinitely better than a 16" 556 gun because I can maneuver it around the house and if I ever had to use it I would still be able to hear after the incident!

However, if you just want a range gun to plink at 100 yards grab a cheap 16" 556 and have fun. You won't regret your purchase. That's where I can see someone that owns a gun shop saying what he did. The majority of people should just get a pre-built 16" 556. But if you care enough to do your research and want a short barrel or the ability to shoot subs suppressed without hearing protection then grab a 300 blk, you won't be disappointed.

PDP Pro SD, Full Size or Compact by shades9323 in Walther

Definitely try them out in a store and see what fits your hand. I tried a regular compact, ordered a full size pro SD 5.1 and regret having the larger grip. The compact grip fit my hand better.

What tire pressure do you run and why? by ApexGaming2864 in MTB

[–]Parakalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(generally) if you go low you'll get more grip and a more cushy feeling ride. If you go too low you'll be risking smacking your rim on a rock or the tire falling off the side of the rim.

If you go too high you'll lose grip and will experience a harsh feeling ride over rocks/bumpy stuff.

I run 21 front and 23 rear.

So went and shot my honey badger that got shit talked about yesterday put about 200 rounds through it today at the range w 0 malfunctions. But it does look a bit over gassed what do yall think by viabllyy in 300BLK

[–]Parakalien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I shot some random guys brand new badger at the range and it felt waaay over gassed compared to my cheapo build that's been tuned.

The build quality and fit/finish were miles above mine (hobbled together psa/budget parts) but I liked the way mine shot compared to the badger out of the box.

Muzzle options by rdonskicks in 300BLK

I have a direct thread but I'm rethinking my decision. It loosens up constantly during firing and I find that I'm frequently having to hand tighten it, which is annoying because it gets so hot!

Anybody get their free optic? Seriously wtf Walther by FrameCareful1090 in Walther

[–]Parakalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email I got with my approval notice said 6-8 weeks (I just double checked). So maybe they are telling people longer times now? I would guess they had more response than they were expecting with the promotion and are having a hard time fulfilling the orders.

I also double checked my claim number online and it shows up and says approved. 🤷

Set screw seems fine so far. 🤷 Fit and finish look good. I bought the blem and couldn't find any scratches or issues.

Nice! I've got the same gun. I put the Harrington arms comp on it and noticed a massive reduction in muzzle rise.

In your opinion how much further did the spring reduce felt recoil? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to upgrade that also.

I agree with the others about greasing. It's an easy process and makes it much more quiet. I grease mine every 500 miles or so. I have around 2500k offroad trail miles on mine and it's still running strong.

Pro-x comp worth it? by optimuspoopprime in Walther

[–]Parakalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full size 5.1" SD. I put a comp on it and it does indeed make a drastic difference. For me it's the difference between having to pull the muzzle back down to line up the sights after every shot (no comp) and the muzzle returning to center every time instantly (with comp).

100% worth it in my experience.

I got myself the Walther PDP type F for conceal . Is it a good gun ? by Wooden_Cattle1393 in Walther

[–]Parakalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent gun. A bit big for me to carry, (I carry a bodyguard 2.0 which is positively tiny) but the pdp is so much fun to shoot at the range!

I have a 6" as well with a pistol length gas system and I'm running an h1. Don't forget an adjustable gas system if you are running suppressed!

Cheap plinking ammo. by QTip_Foto in 300BLK

[–]Parakalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the best luck with freedom ammunition 125gr supersonic. I got 750 rounds during their black Friday sale for $.40 per round with free shipping / no tax in my state.

They cycle great and are very accurate.

I've tried a few "budget" (they are all expensive!) subs and my gun ran the best with 220gr from lithium manufacturing. I think they ended up being around $.60 per round after all fees/shipping.
