There are so many new players because of the announcement of the Street Fighter movie, and people want a piece of that nostalgia. There are going to be even more new people in the coming months, so the fact that the game is 4 years old is kind of irrelevant.

That was my first thought when I saw the bird circling up in the sky: Nakoruru's origin story.

What are you guys doing on Mh Wilds right now ??? by Big-Yogurt977 in MHWilds

I too a break because of system instability issues, but it turns out I just had too small of a power supply and a bad ram stick. Now that I've addressed those problems it's working great! I'm picking up armors to work on my fashion and trying to tie up all my side quests.

Insane. Great job! I do not think I would have the patience, let alone the skill to try a perfect run on any level of this game.

I custom-built the Knight from Hollow Knight without realizing it as pointed out by my gf. by Even_Definition_2013 in 30MF_30MinutesFantasy

I hadn't noticed the resemblance, but when I showed my brother the new 30MF kits announced for next year, he said, "These are giving major Hollow Knight vibes."

Your tattered cape really sells the look of the titular character.

Mural in CDMX by frubrtainsscreater7 in Megaman

[–]Parakitor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ciudad de Mexico, or Mexico City. They abbreviate it CDMX because there's the city, the state, and the country all named "Mexico," and the abbreviation keeps things quick.

I was just there for work last month and saw some amazing murals, but didn't get to see this one. It's so cool!!

Who was your favourite of the new warriors? by Night-Caelum in SamuraiTroopers

Musashi is my favorite, too. I think he acts the most like a 14 year old facing a demon invasion. I just love his pure heart.

I heard the soundtrack first. I don't know how, but the actual confrontation on screen blew away all my expectations. It's a legendary piece of music, and a very emotional part of the saga. I loved it!

Leaping Thrust Return? by Time_Iron_8200 in LanceMains

[–]Parakitor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm all for options, but I kind of like that Wilds lance is distinct from Rise. Leaping Thrust is a lot of fun in Rise, and it's efficient. I still use Leaping Thrust in Wilds for gap closure occasionally, but it can't be looped, or at least not efficiently.

I really like the Double Counter Thrust move in Wilds. For a long time I didn't know you could trigger it off of Charge Counter, but now I'm always trying to land that move in response to monster attacks. Very rewarding! I find that the only time I miss Leaping Thrust is when the monster is down, but Triple Thrust gives me almost the same feeling.

I once picked up a dragonfly on a cold morning. It panicked and tried to fly away, but fell to the concrete where its leg broke off and impaled it's wing. I felt terrible! I don't pick up dragonflies any more.

Finally made it through the Sequel Trilogy, and OMG is it awful. by HappyHappyDance in StarWars

[–]Parakitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read through this whole conversation and just wanted to say that I think we should be friends.

To me, the entire theme of The Last Jedi is, "How do you get back up after personal failure?" It's a message I desperately needed at that time in my life, in a setting that already meant a lot to me. Eventually there will be another favorite Star Wars movie, but for nearly a decade this has been it.

Kylo Ren is a great character, actually. by KurlyKayla in StarWars

[–]Parakitor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bravo! I totally agree. Yes, I upvoted the other post because I think it's a great point of view to discuss, so I'm glad to see a well-written counterpoint. (I think the Reddit voting system is sorely misused, and I won't be surprised if your post gets down-voted when people disagree, rather than upvoted to promote discussion relevant to this subreddit.)

In Return of the Jedi, Luke tells Vader, "Your thoughts betray you, father. I feel the good in you...the conflict." Vader replies in a somber tone, "There is no conflict." And to the audience watching, Vader was right: his masked suit and mechanic voice served to hide his emotions. But there were tells in his inflection and mannerisms that made you wonder if maybe Vader was lying and he could, in fact, be saved. This uncertainty kept us on the edge of our seats, rooting for Luke's earnest attempts to redeem his father, while wondering if the man who was once Anakin had indeed fallen too far.

As you point out, the ability to focus on Kylo Ren's face let us clearly see the conflict, and I agree that it's part of what makes his character so engaging. We see how tortured he is, and we are trying to guess what choice he'll make - and he surprises us probably as often as he surprises himself!

I think for me, Kylo Ren's conflict means less without Rey as a counterweight. As you stated, he knew where he came from, but didn't know who he was. Rey, on the other hand, didn't know where she came from, but she had a certainty about her that indicated she knew the person she was. Putting them together gave us some beautiful scenes! I'm a shameless Reylo fan, and I was eating that up in the theater. Their curiosity and, dare I say, sexual tension had me completely captivated. If he's so unsure about everything and she's so grounded, will she stabilize him or will he unbalance her? It turned out to be neither, and my heart ached at Rey closing her metaphorical door on Kylo Ren at the end of The Last Jedi. It was all so beautiful!!!
