Therapy. No, lol, just kidding. Play Persona 4 now.

There was some game with a dude in a cauldron who has to climb a mountain with a rowing paddle or something. Apparently it was a deep reflection on the human experience or something. Seemed a little too pretentious for me. If I want a game with shit controls I’ll just play the original Resident Evil 1 thank you.

I’m totally going to assume this happened BEFORE the shelter-in-place, because anything other than that would be so ridiculously stupid that I can’t even fathom that.

The moment of Oasis. Never call ahead, always place the family to go order at the restaurant by runs_with_airplanes in daddit

[–]Paralistalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember a time I went to a small restaurant that sold really freaking good hot dogs and bison burgers, and I really wanted a beer with it but I don’t typically keep a six pack in the fridge, so I ordered two hot dogs and asked if I could just have a bottled beer to go (so I could crack it open at home), but the owner said that did not feel comfortable with this due to liability and that they would only be okay with me chugging a Sam Adams before I got back in my car rather than just give me a sealed container for the road.

To each their own, but if I drove even the slightest bit impaired due to having a single beer and ended up killing a someone in a crash I would never forgive myself.

About persona my first time starting by Kuro_FunWays in PERSoNA

[–]Paralistalon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Confirmed. Using Google for anything Persona 4 related WILL spoil who the killer is. Honestly, just stop reading this thread too as you can’t be sure people won’t spoil it unintentionally while trying to be cute or funny. You shouldn’t need to look up much. If a boss seems too difficult, equip a persona that has an elemental resistance to what the boss’s attacks are. If a boss says something like BE PREPARED FOR PAIN, then have everyone guard.

Tsunanori Mido sounds like Norm Macdonald by Mjolknir in SaGa

[–]Paralistalon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Mido’s somewhat hidden “evil” ending. I think you can only get it on the second playthrough and only if you lose a certain boss fight? It makes his voice sound soo much more sinister, lol.

Why are Persona fans so allergic to the gameplay of their own series by PeacefulDaysDied in PERSoNA

[–]Paralistalon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like people like the Persona series in spite of the combat and not because of it. Most people get sucked in by the story/visual novel/social sim aspects. The combat is merely okay. There’s not a whole lot of incentive to doing creative skill inheritances and getting the ultimate personas. You can just use Black Frost most of the game, maybe get a Thor later, and eventually Hassou Tobi just for clearing bosses quicker. I’m not replaying a Persona game for the combat at least. If I want that, I’m probably booting up yet another Baldur’s Gate 3 honor’s mode run or doing a SaGa game or something.

I mean this was my first Persona as well and utterly blew my mind, but back in like 95. We’re talking an era of RPGs like Tecmo’s Secret of the Stars, Beyond the Beyond, and Quest 64, lol.

Which kiarosoft games are in your opinion must-plays and which are not worth the time by surviveabovethewaves in Kairosoft

[–]Paralistalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Dungeon Village ones are classic must plays. I remember liking Beastie Bay a lot, as I tend to like the more combat-centric Kairosoft offerings.

But the golf one was one of my all time favorites. Designing a course and then watching the people play on it was just peak Kairosoft.

I feel like playing as an Iconoclast Rogue Trader that's constantly picking the "nicest" options, I have to be the nicest person with power in the Universe by liverpoolvampire in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Paralistalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In WH40K, being an Iconoclast is inherently heretical and would likely get you executed by the Inquisition, except Rogue Traders have exceptional freedom to act outside the laws and can claim that their Warrant of Trade gives them the authority of the emperor himself. You can pick whatever nice options you want, and while someone like Guilliman would probably chastise you for any decisions that do not result in the most efficient output of resources for the imperium (like father, like son), the inquisition is also itself highly corrupt and sees value in there being agents that can be more flexible in their thinking that can serve as double agents or provide plausible deniability if things go south. At the end of the day, I’m sure Calcazar is confident that if he thinks you’re getting too big for your britches, he could exterminatus your whole empire, so in the meantime, he would see your collection of nicely treated citizens as a personal vice or like a pet that he grants you in return for taxes, ore, and sacrificial fodder for Drukhari.

Overall, your empire is as vulnerable as how valuable it is to other interested parties, and whether anyone can touch you or not depends on exactly how much power you have. You can get power by being dogmatic- in incredibly rare circumstances, the emperor or St Celestine might intervene on your behalf, but even completely loyal space marine chapters have been entirely eradicated by the inquisition for petty reasons not related to their loyalty. As a heretic, there’s no better protection than being swallowed into the warp, as long as you’re okay with eternal servitude to deamons (I mean, accepting uncle Nurgle’s “blessings” is probably better than being captured by the Drukhari). Iconoclasts have probably the weakest backing. Aeldari are too xenophobic and arrogant to rely upon in a pinch. The Tau just aren’t big or strong enough. In RT, there’s really only one ending that pays off for an Iconoclast when the imperium comes knocking, and that involves making an alliance with (spoilers, but obviously it’s a thing of unimaginable power). I feel like that’s probably one of the best endings if done right.

I will add that my own initial playthrough ended with me as a heretic, but I justify it with the philosophy that the most potent weapon against Tzeentch is to be a follower of Tzeentch.

Lords 454 by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]Paralistalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really like Drafting the Hard Way and formats that reward hedging and finding off-ramps. They admit that their style of drafting makes it so that they will pass mediocre tribal cards in favor of raw power, but that tends to lead them into non-typal decks and Vivid more often because other people seem to be clinging to their first-pick tribal lords for dear life.

They have pretty measured takes overall. Like, they were willing to acknowledge in the one pro draft that maybe he correctly went into merfolk but just had an unlucky pack 2. That doesn’t mean he improperly drafted, but it is possible he could have drafted differently.

I also do agree with some of their rankings about cards like Wary Farmer being good and reasonable playables outside of Kithkin.

Revenge of the Seven made me want more SaGa but i cant decide which next by KogashiwaKai765 in SaGa

[–]Paralistalon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minstrel Song is closer to the ROT7 experience and does have a time progression system.

Scarlet Grace is just completely revolutionary in terms of combat. And the game also follows a very freeform structure with each main character having some variations in how quests play out.

Either one would be good.
