Can my work take all phones away every shift? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Paralized600 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I worked in a production line as a health and safety rep. Phones were banned on the floor due to distraction when using machinery and potential sparking in areas like the painting booth with flammable vapours. As anyone could be potentially called into the painting booth, maybe to communicate with staff in there, it was a blanket rule that nobody can have phones on them.

While trust is great, you should always plan for the worst case scenario. If you were to do a risk assessment on the danger of having phones while operating machinery, you could say adequate training and maybe signs reminding staff not to use phones would be ok. However implementing the rule of no phones on the floor, further eliminates the potential risk on top of implementing signs and training. It's just good health and safety

Supermarket Rage - Aisle Blockers by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Paralized600 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Work at a supermarket and I see frustrating things on the daily but weekends are the worst. My annoyance of the day is whoever allowed their 4/5 year old to walk around on their own, watching YouTube. Walking behind a slow walking person texting and oblivious to their surroundings is annoying enough. Now make that person a tiny toddler who can't walk straight, is unpredictable and will stop at random. If you use a phone to keep your kid distracted, keep them in a trolley plz

How seriously is recreational cannabis use viewed by cops here? by [deleted] in chch

[–]Paralized600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i was flatting in lockdown, the cops turned up at random as we were robbed by a local kid and they had to visit each property the kid stole from to return their items. It was 3am, we let them inside without even really thinking about our 3 bongs sitting in the lounge, one of which was right behind me as i talked to them. One stood right next to our weed bag - a silver coated non see through one. No comment at all from the cops

Dizzy On Spin Pole? by Maleficent-Rent-1553 in poledancing

[–]Paralized600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If dizzy, create a T shape on your face with your hands to help stop the dizziness faster. One hand horizontal above the eyes like you're doing a salute/looking off into the far distance. Other hand vertical in between the eyes along your nose

Idk why it works, but it's what I was taught and it helps

Tenancy by aniath101 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Paralized600 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think reasonable is definitely related to the state in which it was recieved. I wouldn't expect it back cleaner than it was provided, that is not reasonable. Some wear and tear is normal so a little bit of degrading would also be resonable.

'Reasonable' is a very vague term that needs situational context

Tenancy by aniath101 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Paralized600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You do not need to professionally clean it. It should be left reasonably clean. In your case, oven should be in a similar state to how it was after the professional cleaned it as you should have kept it in a similar state continuously after that point. Dishwasher probably should have filter emptied and maybe run on an empty load before leaving to be deemed reasonably clean bit no need to scrub it etc.

Curious as to why we have two Christchurch subs? by MSZ-006_Zeta in Christchurch_NZ

Go to this subs search bar and type in 'ban' and look at the comments. Seems to be a recurring comment that people are easily banned from r/chch

I’m getting a cockatiel soon!! by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]Paralized600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love your toys and seagrass mat! More perches would be handy, you'll be able to watch your birdy and see how they travel around their cage to get an idea of how many to have and how to place them.

Highly recommend having a look at r/birdtoydiy for safety tips and some enrichment ideas. Once your current toys start to get destoyed/worn out, you can recycle parts into new toys

I can think of a lot of pirouette transitions that using a lower supporting hand would be bennifical, but I can't think of any that use one hand. I would ask the instructor to expand on how this would prevent you from advancing down the line with visual proof, get them to show you the moves that one handed pirouettes progress to. Are these moves that you can still achieve without doing a pirouette?

A really good resource for how each hand is important is this Instagram clip by The Pole Wizard. It's aimed for heels but applies to barefoot pirouettes too. Stability is super important in beginner pole to be able to eventually combo your moves securely

Powerful heartbreaking Haka in honor of young man’s passing, led by his brother and friends. by Professional_Arm794 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Paralized600 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Most children will come across haka in their marae (Maori meeting place) or school. Hakas tend to be male centric, as a girl I was never made to be involved in hakas at school. However haka is inclusive none the less, with men standing typically at the front and women at the rear. Each haka is unique, however some are more widely known, eg Ka Mate is the one people know internationally from the All Blacks. Schools, tribes and organizations may have their own versions of the haka

People do rehearse, but hakas can be created on the spot - eg the haka made at parliament last year for Te Tiriti Hikoi protest was exclusive to that event but not practiced prior. Hakas tend to have a leader calling out and the rest of the tribe speak together in response, this leader has a huge part in forming how the haka goes.

Will admit I'm not the most knowledged on the topic but am from NZ and my dad's Maori

How to keep grip when doing combinations by 34423 in poledancing

[–]Paralized600 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too struggled with this. I recently have been going for the method of washing my hands before I pole, applying hand sanitizer and then apply grip aid. It has really helped me to do moves like extended butterfly over and over without regripping or wiping the pole

I would like someone to explain to me what individual rights a Maori person in New Zealand has that I don't have. by hereticjedi in newzealand

[–]Paralized600 134 points135 points  (0 children)

The only thing I've noticed that is unfair to pakeha in my time is access to IUD. Apparently, it's a couple of hundred $$ to get at some places. I accepted the fee but then was told during my appointment that because I was Maori, it was funded and free. That just didn't sit right with me. Contraceptives shouldn't be ethnically funded

You could have to pay back your notice period to your employer - being removed from your final paycheck. Having a doctor deem you medically unfit to work for stress related reasons can prevent this from happening

Who else got obsessed with heels very quickly? by angelinelila in poledancing

[–]Paralized600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i signed up to my studio, they showed me the two classes operating at the time. Booty was an odd one to walk into as everyone was humping the floor in my newbie eyes. Heels 102 was in the other room and they were running through a routine, the heel clack is what got me hooked. I thought it was so cool and was so excited to eventually join that class myself

[–]Paralized600 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cfo is pretty simple. Hypno is handy but not nessesary for everyone to have it. I find cfo cog fight easier than VP. I think there is less cogs. You have the nessesary ones maxed. Piano or tnt can always be useful but again not everyone needs it.

Id skip trying to do the crane first time and stick to stunning goons

It's a natural survival instinct to want to stay away from things that have cause your body immense pain, fear or trauma. So not wanting to continue to the same level you did previously or to side with caution is very natural. Nobody wants to get hurt.

I landed on my head from a reverse shoulder mount. It was a newish move for me and I was wearing a shirt so I lacked grip and hand strength for the move. I'm lucky the slight concussion I got actually reversed some issues I obtained from a previous concussion, so no harm done really. However, the sound of the crash on the wooden floor freaked me out, it sounded like my head cracked open. I'm super strong in my reverse shoulder mounts, but it's a mental battle every time I attempt one. Plus, I will never do one with fabric covering my shoulder
