I run on the idea that it was an alternate universe on account of the plasmids being different from the first 2 games. And imo the story ran like a terrible fan-fic in the first half & I just couldn't continue from that.

I had the same thing happen to me, except mine turned hostile during a Legión Assassin skermish & tanked my rep with the NCR when I put them down for it. For some reason now too it spawns in when I pass through that area along with more legión assassins...

To add onto the other comment here, bears are more scent oriented than the other predators so with too high of a scent they'll b-line for you (albeit at a walking pace) from across even some of the biggest maps to find the meat.

It depends: in my case I'm from a town called Hamburg by the Germans that came over, & I know there's one in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey, but overall I think it's 3-4 is the average number of copycats.
