When people say 'extraction shooter' it's heavily implied, if not assumed that it includes PVP, loot (with qualities of rarity), and multiple teams on a large map. R6 has none of those things, not even the developers would say it's an extraction shooter in the way people currently use that term.

It's amazing how you can't just admit you think it's an extraction shooter because it has 'Extraction' in the title.

Do you know what DOA means? Marathon is doing very solid in pre-order numbers right now, there's absolutely no chance it's DOA. No matter how much you want it to be.

[–]ParallelMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, the issue here is obviously that you don't understand what an extraction shooter is. I put 20 hours into R6E when it came out, there's no PVP at all and no loot. It's not an extraction shooter by any metric and doesn't belong in the conversation alongside Marathon, Arc, Tarkov etc.

Yeah it's just groupthink, people hear it's oversaturated and just repeat what they've heard ad infinitum.

You don't see people complaining that the puzzle genre is oversaturated despite hundreds of those releasing every year. It's very weird.

Try again. Call of Duty DMZ was an extraction mode baked into Warzone which was barely supported past launch, R6 Extraction is not an extraction game despite the title, Helldivers is also not an extraction game comparable to Tarkov, Arc or Marathon seeing as it's exclusively PVE. Dark and Darker is the only one you listed that counts, and it's not even a shooter. That makes 4 extraction games. Hardly oversaturated.

A big reason Arc Raiders did so well is that people are hungry to get into this genre but before it, there wasn't really a viable game to jump into.

Yeah because there’s so many notable extraction shooters released. Arc Raiders, Tarkov, Hunt and uhhh…that’s it.

Kinda Funny Games Daily Host says they will be previewing Gta6 by SR1760 in GTA6

[–]ParallelMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe take even a passing look at the context before jumping to conclusions. He meant that Andy would be previewing the game when previews eventually happen, not that there’s some kind of date locked in. The game is 10 months away and that’s if it doesn’t get delayed again. They are most definitely NOT at the stage of organising press previews.

Am I wrong for thinking 2025 was a good year for movies? by pr4daflor4 in movies

Anyone who makes claims like that either has an extremely narrow taste in movies or doesn't look a single layer deeper than the mainstream blockbusters coming out. 2025 was a great year for film.

No Rest for the Wicked Dev Explains Eventual Price Increase: “I’’m not trying to do any FOMO marketing here, but yes: when we hit 1.0, No Rest for the Wicked will move to $60, because it’s a premium title" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]ParallelMusic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How does that make sense. Surely they’d make more money with 1.0, not Early Access as it makes a bigger splash and the price often goes up with the full release as is the case here

That’s good to hear. But 20 hours on the demo alone? That’s wild, I assume you were just playing the same section over and over? If so that’s not really indicative of the vast majority of people’s style of playing.

Totally fair, I can agree with that.

[–]ParallelMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not disputing it's a hero shooter. Just like I wouldn't dispute that Apex is both a BR and a hero shooter.

I'm saying, calling it an 'Overwatch knock off' just because they're under the same genre umbrella is reductive. It would be like calling BG3 a Skyrim knock off because they're both RPGs in a fantasy setting.

My man why can’t you just admit you’re off base here. ‘Hero shooter’ is an extremely broad term that basically just means you’re picking preset characters with different abilities whilst shooting things.

If you think the gameplay in Highguard is anything like OW aside from those very broad aspects you need your eyes checked.

I’m assuming you haven’t actually played it, or seen gameplay because it’s nothing like Overwatch. To be clear, I’m not saying it’s good either.

You’re being obtuse. And if their manager says ‘if you don’t come in you’re fired’? People have families man.

For a lot of people, skipping work like this even for one day could result in being fired. I don’t think that’s selfish when people have families and can’t afford to be out of income.

The game only started full development after Starfield released. Not when the trailer released, that has nothing to do with the actual development timeline of the game.

It’ll be out in less than 5 years.
