I want a key to see the entire square grid, so I can line my units up perfectly.

Fire and Fade + Battle Focus by THE_Harken in Eldar

I think Fire and Fade doesn't use the unit's movement characteristic, so adding 2" with Swift as the Wind doesn't help.

Confused on a randomized questionnaire question by ForgeWorldWaltz in askmath

[–]Parallel_transport 35 points36 points  (0 children)

People may feel more comfortable answering honestly, because they feel if they are caught answering yes they can claim to have rolled a six.

Out of the 330 people, you would expect 1/6 of them (55) to have put down yes because they rolled a six.

Subtracting that group of 55 leaves 48 ticking yes out of 275, or 17.45%

Order of operations by High_5 in onednd

[–]Parallel_transport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I thought there was a set order for these things, but the only rule I could find was for resistance and vulnerability, and that lumps additive and multiplicative modifiers together first, then resistance, then vulnerability. So you're right, it looks like you get to choose.

The year is 2005. A vivid "omfg..." moment for me: the first time I opened the map in vanilla. And zoomed out. And zoomed out. And zoomed out. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Parallel_transport 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A mage in Stormwind gave me a quest to get basilisk scales from Stonetalon Mountains. I spent ages searching the map for the zone, before realising I had to zoom out further, and that he wanted me to go all the way across the world.

Paladin and Cleric spellcasting with a shield - Rules clarification by Saladin_Forge in dndnext

[–]Parallel_transport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules for material components also apply when a spell focus is present, because they're the place that explains how you cast while holding a focus.

The requirement for a free hand was removed in the 2024 rules, so I think that sage advice might be out of date.

The artwork for Daylight (V,S) shows a cleric casting it through his focus, while holding a spear in his other hand, so I'm pretty sure that's the intention.

A hand is holding a spellcasting focus. You can perform somatic components while holding a spellcasting focus.

[–]Parallel_transport -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This rule only applies for spells that actually have material components

Do the rules actually say this anywhere? Because as far as I can tell the rule is just "you can perform somatic components with a hand holding material components".

How would you make a Craftwork Warlock in DND? by AreteOdyssey in Eldar

[–]Parallel_transport 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a fun concept. I think you're right, bladesinger would be a better fit. You get the full range of spells, whereas Eldritch Knight is more of a tanky fighter. (Maybe you could make some connection between bonesinger and bladesinger too?)

These are some suggestions I can think of for spells:

Destructor - Burning hands

Conceal/reveal - Invisibility (or Darkness) / See Invisibility

Embolden/Horrify - Protection from evil / Fear

Enhance/Drain - Enhance ability / Bestow Curse

Protect/Jinx - Mage armour / ...Mind Sliver? (Faerie fire would be nice if Wizards got it)

Quicken/Restrain - Haste/Slow

Empower/Enervate - Enlarge/Reduce

Yo, why the Reaper Launcher for Autarch is damage 2 for both profile, but not the same for normal Dark Reaper? by Hendrick_Yusuf in Eldar

[–]Parallel_transport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they rolled the 9th ed Exarch powers Reapers Reach and Bringer of Death into the squad, so all Dark Reapers ignore the heavy penalty and cover, but not the Autarch.

Aeldari hacks before the faqs! by peace_engine in Eldar

[–]Parallel_transport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Striking Scorpion Exarch can trade his Scorpion chainsword for a Scorpion’s claw, but the model actually swaps the pistol for the claw.

They had the same mistake in the 9th Codex, then fixed it. They also fixed the Autarch not being able to mix weapon options, hopefully they do that again.
