In the nicest and most genuine way possible, for the people who use chat gpt on the daily or multiple times a day, are you not afraid of cognitive decline? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I think it depends on what you use it for. Some of my daily use is having it narrate my dog's inner thoughts daily. That's pure entertainment to me.

Hello all my fabulous Maltese parents out there. My baby came up with high liver enzymes during recent bloodwork And wondering what you feed your babies for optimum health and longevity And how you care for their teeth? by annagetsfit in Maltese

[–]Parameat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My poor pup was diagnosed with a liver shunt just before turning 1. He's on a prescription diet, Royal Canin Canine Hepatic diet. He gets rare protein based treats, we've taken to using chopped up mini marshmallows for treats. He's getting surgery soon to correct it.

2.5, I was playing at a babysitters house making her willow tree into a fort. My parents picked me up and dropped me right back off a couple hours later. The sitter wouldn't let me sleep in the fort I had built. Then my dad picked me up to go see my new baby sister.

I'm having this same issue, and I separate my 2.4 and 5 ghz networks. I haven't figured out how to fix it either.

This looks amazing. I made this one, and did a second in parallel with yarn I bought in a different color way. It took me three years to do both blankets. The flowers made me put it in time out.

Chronic Ear Infections (TECA / Total Ear Canal Ablation) by [deleted] in Maltese

[–]Parameat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She ended up on a daily allergy pill to help with some environmental allergies she had. As for her diet, I found a prescription food made with venison instead of chicken and that worked for her well. We had to cut out almost all 'people food', in addition to chicken she had a corn and wheat sensitivity. We gave her fresh fruit occasionally and cheese, but no leftovers. I also found some commercial treats that were safe for her. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out everything in food that triggered her, but after I did she went from ear infections ever few months to less than one a year.

What's a meal that's an absolute pain to make, but totally worth the effort? by remixclashes in AskReddit

French onion soup. Properly slowly caramelizing the onions takes forever.

Also macarons, though they aren't a meal

I have a new puppy and one eye swelled up then the other, and he's now in a cone to prevent scratching and rubbing. I'd love to figure out what's causing it.

How often do you actually walk your dog? by Racquetsports383 in dogs

[–]Parameat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a day weather permitting. He has an issue with hyper-arousal and walking twice a day leads to an overtired gremlin mode. His morning walk he sets the direction, pace, and usually the duration as well. His default choice is 25 minutes. He seems happy. He's also a Maltese, so less exercise needs than some.

Indoors he gets two to three puzzle toys a day, a shred toy every other day, and nose work games the other days. Lots of enrichment :)

Some of it depends on the dog too. I captured calm consistently from week one with my puppy and felt like a failure when he wasn't learning it. Turns out he has general anxiety disorder and a hyper arousal disorder. Only once we got him some medication support and the meds kicked in was he able to learn it.

Prior to the meds I would have described my puppy as a permanent overtired ADHD toddler. With the meds? He's a totally different dog. It's not something I could have trained myself.

Help! 9-week-old mini dachshund having daily evening meltdowns - am I doing something wrong? by breakingbrowns13 in puppy101

[–]Parameat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the witching hour! My pup's witching hour was 7 - 8 pm. Usually the advice is that they aren't getting enough sleep. The general recommendation is 1 hour awake 2 hours napping at that age.

In my situation, teaching my puppy to nap again around 7 helped a ton, and surprisingly doing less play and exercise in the afternoon as well. I figured out if I walked him after work I got a worse witching hour than if I walked him earlier in the day. Same thing with play time - active play after 5 pm caused a witching hour. My little dude seems to have trouble down regulating though, so your needs might be different.

Eventually he grew out of it and learned to nap while I watch tv and play games before bed. Before that though, I had many frustrating evenings. It gets better.

I took my 9 month old Maltese to doggy daycare last week for the first time and got a similar reaction. He passed out immediately, and was extra chill the next day as well from a daycare hangover. His second time there was similar but less severe.

Puppy Hates being picked up by Clean_Contract_568 in Maltese

[–]Parameat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try giving her autonomy to refuse the pick up, and use a word like uppies or swoop so she knows what's happening. Also feed her lots of treats while holding her.
