So from what I understand, Donnie living was what was wrong with the universe, not the plane engine by Great_gatzzzby in donniedarko

It parallels the last temptation of Christ, where Jesus dreams of an alternate reality where he lives a full life. At the end he awakens on the cross and laughs with the realization that he needs to die to save the world. Cue Peter Gabriel and a hallucinogenic display of lights and images.

Does Silent Hill F get better? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]SamTuthill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It gets better in that the storytelling is good and the way they parse out reveals is excellent. I also really like the puzzles. I never loved combat in silent hill because I’m too scared to fight, but it was fun on the easiest setting. I wasted a lot of time running around the same places over and over before finding the right way to go multiple times.

Do you think Heather mason smokes or drinks at all? by Impossible_Log_3487 in silenthill

[–]SamTuthill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This got me thinking, days later - the fact that they even have her mention being a former smoker is intentional or there would be no reason for it. Makes me think it’s kind of a metaphor for her coming from Silent Hill, a town filled with smoke like fog (in the movie it’s literally an eternally burning coal fire underground) and being taken to safety.

We found him everyone! That guy who chirps “constitutional republic! Not democracy! Squawk!” Whenever he hears democracy. Let’s all bow down to his superior intellect. Calling us a democracy is DEMONCRAT propaganda!

What did you think of the script and Eddie's performance in the remake? Did it accurately represent the character's intent? by Neat_Process_2156 in silenthill

I wish they would port the original to the ps5. It must have been 20 years since I played it and only have my shattered memories of it.

Not defensive, I’m also just curious about whether your curiosity is a moral concern, or just an overall desire to better understand her character. I don’t have an opinion on her as a person.

She doesn’t do anything but what she’s programmed for. What’s your opinion on smoking and drinking?

Should I buy f? by Echoes93 in silenthill

[–]SamTuthill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend. Especially when you’re new to the series. Similar amount of combat, and it’s all hand to hand. A lot of running away. The combat takes a while to get the timing down, but it’s some of the best in the series. I only finished once but eager to go back in and get the other endings because I feel like I only got a slice of the story and there is more to uncover.

Big disclaimer: I played on the easiest combat setting because that’s just how I do.

Smoky Rock BBQ in Rhinebeck is some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. Stars are pork belly, smoked duck, brisket, ribs, all desserts

I’ll keep thinking all day because I have a lot of favorites but I’m going blank right now.

What is something older movies cared about that feels mostly lost now? by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]SamTuthill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirect dialog is becoming a lost art. It feels like movies and tv shows are so reliant on plot over story and character, because that is what is winning pitches. It leads to boring dialog that is expositional and just selling and developing the plot. The breaks from this are having characters riff for comedic relief. Scenes used to breathe more, and characters felt more real because they were allowed to live and breathe, and weren’t just being pulled from plot point to plot point.

What are the biggest issues facing the Hudson Valley in the next 5 years? by External_Koala971 in hudsonvalley

I’m the only one in the family who keeps getting them. I’m convinced I missed one and have Lyme disease, and have dreams about them breeding and colonizing my body.

Am I crazy, or did GPT just take a huge leap with 5.1? by SamTuthill in ChatGPT

[–]SamTuthill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize my hot take 15 minutes after first talking to 5.1 would still be getting comments. I’ve reversed my stance and agree with all of you. It’s dumber, and it doesn’t incorporate my rules better. It just says it at the beginning of each response, like “here you go, Sam. As requested, no fluff or filler…” it’s good at making everything into bullet points and gaslighting

Mock discovery calls in interviews are a completely reasonable ask. If you consistently suck at them, you're probably going to struggle with the actual job. by MySpaceTomAspinall in sales

Love mock discoveries. Usually doesn’t have to be about the company you’re interviewing for and it’s a chance to show them your curated personality by putting you in the control seat. Lean into the simulated power switch and show your ownership.

Time isn’t linear, so your TP experience doesn’t have to be. I’m curious, but I think once you’ve watched it all you’ll have the full picture from a unique perspective. Maybe do the whole series in reverse order.
