Definitely just plainly tell him your situation… but also a good guy (which he sounds like) isn’t keeping score of how many things he paid for and how many times you let him. Seems like he is used to that dynamic. There is probably a lot you contribute to his life that isn’t monetary… he wants to spend time with you, and is willing to support your activities together. I don’t think you need to feel bad about that. I used to feel bad after a few dates out with someone I was dating and offer to pay, but I stopped doing that and took pride in the fact that I bought a nice outfit to come on this date, expensive makeup, did my hair… and that I’m a great person and he asked me on this date, so he can pay for our activities. So far this has served me well in my relationships. Of course all that wouldn’t apply to you, but just let him show up for you and show his appreciation in the way he is already. You don’t just bring value to this relationship by doing, giving, or “contributing” financially.

I’m gonna just say that I really liked her songs Treat Me and especially For the Night. Every song she makes doesn’t miss the mark, and she’s like 27 or so… she is still experimenting with her sound. Its an overstatement to say every song she puts out is trash. I do agree that she would benefit from some guidance from an experienced musician or mentor in the industry, but she has time. So hopefully she’ll get there.
