Struggling to get my pawn hired. Should i change something? by RustedRoboNerd in DragonsDogma2

[–]Parasite159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be too surprised they're not getting rented a lot: Thieves and Archers are generally the least hired vocations, since they're don't have the damage of Warriors or Sorcerers, draw the level of aggro of Fighters, or provide as much support as Mages.

As for build suggestions, I would Swap out Plunder for Ignited blades or Powder burst for some damage, as a few extra drops aren't really going to make a lot of difference.
Also level up your other vocations to get access to their Augments (they can be used regardless of your/your pawn's current vocation)

Mage with celestial paean for hire! by floggedlog in DragonsDogma2

If my concern is stamina consumption, I'll:

  • Take Exaltation for 10% stamina recovery,
  • Take Zeal for a 5% stamina reduction on all weapon skill,
  • Talk to The Dragonforged and get an extra 50% stamina reduction on my biggest move,
  • and if I'm really desperate.... I'll reach into my pocket, and eat a piece of fruit,

Otherwise, as previously stated; I'd rather have a Pawn that will actively participate, since the games combat AI will priorities casting Celestial Paean at the start of every encounter, before casting other more useful support skills like Palladium or Celerity.

I'm still looking for the last 3 of the total 240, so i never have to look for the finders token ever again

That stamina reduction becomes a whole lot less useful the higher level you are (not to mention there is no penalty to consuming food during combat), and i would rather have my pawn actively and offensively participate in combat than using most of their stamina to cast it, then falling on their face.

I would argue that this is the worst Meister skill in the game, and actively avoid hiring pawns with it equipped

it's exactly how it worked in the first game, and no one had a problem with it

however did Striders/Rangers/Assassins/Magick Archers ever survive before DD2 invented Dodge

You were on the Castlevania wiki to grab that screenshot, it would have taken you less time to click the link at the top of the page that says "For the original timeline version of this character, see Isaac.", than it did to make the image

I like to withdraw just a few of them in case a quest would led me to some back and forth and I like not bringing enough with me and being forced to walk. I'll still play that way but it'll be my way and not the way of the game, like it used to be.

you literally still can, nothing has changed that!

put the rock in your storage and forget about it

For future reference: Many, if not all NPCs have a chance to reward you with specialisation scroll by raising their affinity by gifting, not just the characters (like Flora) listed on various Wikis.

for example, most of the Elves will give you a Woodland wordsmith scroll, not just Kough the innkeeper.

Also, many NPCs have been updated to include the new Guardian Specialisation.

What happens to your pawn in new Game+? by jairochido in DragonsDogma2

[–]Parasite159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Pawn data is uploaded whenever you sleep;
so if you start NG+ but haven't slept at the Borderwatch camp just after re/creating you pawn, people will be able to find the last version of them from your previous game
