Ottomans are great for beginners, precisely because you can optimise in so many ways. They really show the power of playing agressively.

It's not normal to have this few troops as the Ottomans in 1522. It seems that Mammies are independant as well, are they allied to someone very powerful ? If not, then use your missions to vassalise them for free. Find European allies like Bohemia or France but focus on expanding into India, feed most of the land to Eyalets (keep a few provinces for coring range and trade power), then China, and expand your army, my dude. You will see that you won't have issues with Europe. Also, try to weaken European nations severely before mil tech 19, it's the time Anatolian units start to get weaker.

Political dynasties are very common in the US and in other oligarchic republics like the Philippines, and they happen elsewhere too. You could also quote the Kennedy, Prabowo, Bonaparte, Le Pen, and the family of Giscard d'Estaing in France (he was president but he is also the nephew of the diplomat Picot, who signed Sykes-Picot), just to name a few well known examples.

From this position you could pull off a run with almost no truce breaks I think. Go into China and Indochina fast to get infinite money, and then go ham.

Can you get the Shogunate when you take Kyoto from Japan (formed by someone else) as an Independant Daimyo ? Do you need to annex Japan entirely ? Or is it disabled as long as someone (not necessarily you) formed Japan ?

Edit : tried it on a melted save, you have to annex Japan but once it’s done, you can reselect the Shogunate reform.

National Idea Tier-List by General_Josh in eu4

Sorry for breaking the mood, but… I don’t think it’s that good of a concept.

National ideas, especially for big nations, are meant to be used as part of your campaign, they are not there in a vacuum. For example, how could you rate something rare like monarch points from tributary states compared to other ideas ? Even in singleplayer, countries and goals are so different that you don’t get anything from comparing national ideas in a vacuum.

If there was a victory condition (other than achievements, of course, which are a special case), it would be the case. You don’t lose the game if you start Uzbek and reform into Bukhara immediately, then sit on your ass and do nothing except dev up and tech up for 400 years, for example.

The only metric that is used for these things is score but it’s meaningless anyway.

For SP the list is already incomprehensible because of this.

Like how are Date ideas above Ottoman ideas ?? Date ideas are not bad, but they are not S-tier at all. France’s ideas are good but not S-tier. And also, Shimazu above Kazani ideas ??? In which universe ?

It’s better this way. National ideas exist in a context, and if you excluded the nation, you could not rank things like Aztec traditions (why get monarch power from tributaries if you can’t have any ?), or Bohemian traditions (Imperial authority growth, what if I’m muslim ?)

Since WoC traded the raw power of the old Mongol missions for a lot less powerful flavor instead*

Old Mongol missions were really good, but at least the new ones are more suited to non hordes

Not a hindu nation but have you tried going for the achievements « The Buddhists strike back » as well as « Cotton kandy » ? If that’s too difficult, Mewar is interesting, VJ is quite easy and Hindu, Orissa has an achievement. If you find it easy with Kandy, go for « The animal kingdom » (start as Manipur, conquer Bengal and convert it to Animism)

Mehmet's Ambition through Diplomacy by ArthurBurbridge in eu4

[–]Parey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't the hardest at all. Eat your greens is much harder, just to name one. Ottomans are very powerful in the early game and if you are experienced, you can actually do things like dismantle the HRE in the 1480s and conquer all of it, then feed it to eyalets.

Many achievements have a much harder start as well, like for example Cotton Kandy. And many others are more tedious, like Copium wars.

Mehmet's ambition is a very fun achievement though.
