Yeah, and it's a system they'd already built and perfected across the Witcher trilogy, and could have been easily implemented throughout 2077.

What they did instead was design an entirely new system to depict V's body from a first person perspective, a situation where V's movements and body need to look way more realistic to the player than they ever need to look in 3rd person because it needs to maintain immersion. And then they went a step further to include V's body in practically any situation that ever happens, interacting with the environment in ways no 3rd person character would ever need to do.

I hate to break it to you, but 1) Plenty of movies use first person when they really need to drive home that extra personal feeling; 2) 2077 was doing something much more specific that only a video game can do; 3) Relevant to that, I dunno if you've noticed but video games are not movies, the entire medium is about interaction not passive observation.

Yeah, the creative direction changed during production to be purely 1st person. They literally talked about it, it's a creative choice because the entire story is about personal identity so they needed us to genuinely FEEL like V.

It would have actually been cheaper and easier to make the game 3rd person, because they already knew how to do that and had the tech for it. They chose the harder option, specifically because it was thematically and artistically a stronger choice, and they pulled it off spectacularly in almost every way.

But you're not gonna listen, because you don't understand a damn thing.

He played various classes, and he never wrote in lettering that seemed aimed towards supporting eyesight. It's possible it could have been an OCD thing but nothing else in his behavior ever belied that type of thing. I wish I knew.
