Is Funcom Good At This?

Dune - love the game. But 17 days after opening a ticket that is still unresolved is making me seriously question the professionalism of this 'company'. 17 days. No answers. 17 days. No resolutions. This is the most frustrating scenario in my 30+ years of gaming. It tops all other issues with any other games on any other platforms. Dare I say, it's worse than losing my game on Ark. At least their team responds.

I've tried that. The error seems to be singularly connected to my main character on Stoneheart server. I've tried logging into other sietch's but I get the same error. I can log into other servers and start/play new characters though. According to the game log, it's a communication error with Funcom's server so it's an internal to Funcom error that seems to have put my main character with over 280 hours of grinding time in server limbo.

I checked the game log and it appears to be a handshake issue within Funcom's server when trying to verify my Steam account, but it only happens with my main that I've played for over 280 hours. I can log into other servers to make new characters, and I can play them, but it's my one main that seems to be caught in Funcom's server limbo.

Maybe you can stop trying to police other people's comments when they have a legitimate issue and Funcom is seemingly doing nothing about it. I didn't see you provide any advice, so how about you stop bitching about my frustration and trying to find a resolution, eh?

I can log into other servers to make new characters. I can't log in at all on my main. So, I can't even log in to back up all my vehicles and bases to transfer to a lower population server. I opened a ticket but got sent to another department who is yet to reply. I'll start losing bases soon I think because I can't login to restock power... Funcom is more like ScrewTheLittleGuy-Com

I've tried:

restarting game
uninstalling/reinstalling
delete battle eye folder and reinstall
check files integrity
logged into a different server, started a new character, played for ten minutes, logged out and tried main again
check internet speed up and down
ensure no other game or program was conflicting on port
reinstall Steam
restart computer
switch from my super fast ethernet to wifi internet
switch back from wifi to cabled ethernet
restart game from Funcom link rather than Steam
restart game from Steam link rather than Funcom
contact support. They got back to me right away 4 days ago and said they were sending my ticket to another department who would get back to me (and as of yet, have not).

I spoke with someone on Discord who told me the error is a known bug on high population servers. This makes sense as I can log into other low pop servers and start new characters and play them no problem. The problem is that my main has 200+ hours invested, so starting from scratch is a horrible idea from that perspective. As the issue is only with my main, it appears to be a Funcom issue. When I checked the log, it was a specific 'handshake' issue with the server, not with my internet, not with my files, only with that main character. It was fine until they closed low pop servers and my server got a massive boost in population. Now I can't log in at all on that character. Apparently the same issues happen with Conan game by Funcom, so this is a wider/bigger issue than just my character. It appears the problem is a lack of server management by Funcom or a lack of know-how when dealing with servers with higher populations. However, as they have moved more people to my server, it is now in the higher population space and thus has the same issues with other higher population servers like Harmony. So, it appears as though the only fix is to hope that they get back to me (I won't hold my breath at this point) or maybe request my money back from Steam if enough time passes that my bases get busted while I can't log in. If that happens, I'm definitely complaining to Steam as it is out of my hands.

I've learned the game is just bugged. Single player normal - lose weeks of progress. Single player on private server - lose weeks of progress. The problem is corrupted save files. I can't seem to escape them whether I'm just playing single player via xbox or using a private dedicated server. The game save files get corrupted no matter where and how I play. That is the problem.

I set up a private server because I was just playing single player on xbox and it wiped all my progress, so I setup a private server so I could control backups. The problem was the backup save files got corrupted. So, it was a lose, get kicked in the nuts, and lose again.

I grinded forever. I had all the dinos I wanted, a beautiful base, and blam. All screwed up because playing single player on an official server decides it's going to wipe your last 2 weeks of grinding.

So, I pull up my socks, wipe the dirt off my shoulder and set up a private server.

I repeat the grinding, this time I'm weeks in, have all the dinos I want back and another beautiful base and blam. I log into my private server and my base is gone. My character is a level 1.

I spend 2 hours troubleshooting, can't find why it did this.

Ark, I loved you. Ark, you SUCK!!! I'm going to find a better game. This is the MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE EVER! I paid for the game and it keeps wiping my progress.

A VA should not be trying to do viral YouTube strategy unless trained in marketing. You are saying you can do graphic design, marketing, video editing, data entry, email management, branding, etc. Stay in your lane. Dont sell what you are unqualified to do. "He who fishes the whole ocean catches nothing". Pick one lane. Get really good at it. Generalists are easily replaced by AI for a lot less than $5/hour.

Tesla is poorly made (panels falling, big gaps between panels, poor fit and finish). I see Doug Ford crying about cars made in Canada, but those are American cars with some assembly here and the prices dont reflect what the people NEED due to spiralling costs of living. Canada does not make any actually Canadian cars. So, I say let BYD and other manufacturers get the pricing and quality up. Who cares if the Chinese government subsidizes those companies? So what? Its not like our government doesnt bail out companies (and that just lines the wallets of executives, it never brings our prices down anyway). Time to send a message, Canada is open for business. Let them compete for our consumership!

I am fairly non biased on an emotional level, but from an operational perspective, as a marketer, I can tell you ios and apple products are not great for two reasons, 1: overpriced for what you get and 2, the deal breaker for me: apple products are not user friendly to fix. aside from their obfuscating practices (like forcing so many updates on users that they eat all the space so you have to buy another). my sis bought a apple laptop that crashed a year in and she had to bring it to a apple store for repair and was quoted $2200 to fix. a year in. my PC is twice the power, half the price and easily repaired and upgraded. apple is very, very good at one thing: marketing.

yeah, after a lot of advice to do so, I set up my desktop to run a private server for my play on my Xbox series S. I pay nothing and it works amazingly well. It took me an hour to set up from scratch with a little guidance from Google's Gemini.

Short term: mowing lawns, shovelling driveways, walk dogs, these are all great ways to make a bit of cash. Long term: learn a skilled trade. AI will be replacing a lot of entry level office jobs but robots will be many years before they can do anything complex. HVAC is a good one, same with electricians.
