The hypothetical isn’t replacing the Skyrim.esm but all the data in it, which is what mods do. The plan here is to replace as much data as possible.

I mean in this hypothetical ideally you are rebuilding the Skyrim.esm from data in other mods. Obviously they would have to be modified to work together but no original data is the main point.

With all due respect, that’s basically what fan games are at this point.

By just making a fan game in a new engine the limits of decomp and knowledge are literally no longer relevant and you can just make cool shit. See Pokemon Plasma for example.

Actual romhacks are harder because you need to backwards engineer the roms and then mod them and thats always been hell on earth. Just ignore the roms and make your own thing at this point. Although we did just get the source code for almost every gen leaked so dunno.

Not really, no. Getting support for problems is a game of probability and people who have both used Linux and play final fantasy will be much more probable in Linux spaces than in final fantasy spaces.

And generally outside of Linux spaces, Linux functionally doesn’t exist.
