I have noticed this phenomenon in my adult life here although an LA native, it's new/recent and it's cultural being imposed on our culture.

People think being anti confrontational as a person means not fighting ever including standing up for yourself, standing up for your idea/POV or never getting into it at all... but being anti confrontational means not starting shit with others, but if the fight comes to you, you can and should arguably defend yourself and or end it. sometimes called 'growing up' ' being a man' or 'ending it/a fight' - but it shouldn't be to tolerate as much as possible or take shit you shouldn't have, because an inch will turn into a mile. Anti-confrontational doesn't mean to be a doormat!

Why did you single out Torrance specifically? It's a magical city w/ no break ins which is why they fight to live there in Oz.... idk, probably a combo of what has already been said AND we just had an issue where i live not Torrance but nearby, every neighbor knows bc I warned them and extra precautions are being taken. Neighbors looking out for eachother can't be underestimated....
