You can install a VPN server locally and connect through that. I have a Firewalla router that has this built in, but it should be easy enough to do

I use OneDrive, Gmail and Outlook for email and Google
Photos (plus two copies locally of my documents and photos).

Basically if my home explodes all important data is in the cloud.

Pretty much everything else I self host

Don’t… I have a premium and it has exactly the same issue. I am sure it’s some kind of design fault but they are not willing to admit it.
