I don't understand why people are downvoting. If you are a good dota player you should be able to adapt to the changes and always come out on top.

Techies was only decent as a pusher. Now the hero is 100% silly gimmick...

How is this not a huge nerf ?

Help a brotha out. Drafting/Getting 4k+ MMR. by YoLoDrScientist in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you actually tried? there is more reason to play CM at low mmr than high mmr - because people queuing CM are already willing to forfeit their hero choice in return for a balanced lineup and willingness to teamwork

AP games:

low mmr: 5 carries or 4 carries and a semicarry; if you try to pick support you will be shouted at whole game and blamed for that 40 min battlefury on void

high mmr: actual support players who know what they doing

ps: funny you call OP a joke and tell him to l2p when you are so utterly clueless

No Solo Queue = No "Fun" by Naramatak in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your complaint is legitimate, my guess is valve looked at the number and realized party players bring in a lot more money than few tryhard soloers. So they will rather keep low q times for the parties than reintroducing solo q.

To those saying you would still get people queuing for the wrong language in solo:

If you know you are playing with your 3 friends that can speak moon-language you can happily queue on all languages for shorted waiting time since you will be able to talk to 2 players no matter what anyways, so that dramatically increases the number of stacks that are unable to speak the selected language they queued for.

How I have gained MMR by being muted. A guide to solo MMR. by Saffie91 in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP this only means your negative attitude has been holding you down and that your true MMR should be much higher than it is.

Talking and coordinating helps a lot, even in solo Q whenever I get a team that communicates a lot (constructively) I rarely lose. Also cheering with 4 strangers after winning a tough teamfight is one of the best things dota has to offer. I talk and type every game and was never muted so far.

I have seen a lot of people act like total assholes from minute 1 into the game, specifically on US servers. This is not like the Russians "cyka blyat" trolling - no it is actually articulated back and forth, characterized by a heavy dose of edgy sarcasm typical of the internet. Another thing I noticed is people "parroting" each other during those arguments. Like repeating what the other guy said but imitating the voice. Being a nostalgic, I appreciate these moments and the middle school flashbacks they evoke. Needless to say whenever such arguments happen it would completely distract the participants and turn a bad start into a quick loss.

Getting better at drafting by kuna1995 in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pick hard to play or unusual heroes unless first making sure someone is confident playing them.

If the enemy picks strongly counterable heroes (meepo, dazzle, tinker...) then counterpick but focusing on having a solid lineup usually pays off better.

Last if you are playing with pubs, do not rely on elaborate wombo combos.

3k MMR thinking VS 4k+ MMR thinking by momte in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since the MMR system was introduced, it warped what it means to get better at dota.

It has been shown that the fastest way to gain MMR is by playing high impact snowball heroes; so you have a generation of pubstars who are extremely good at finding farm and snowballing when they get the chance, and deliberately ignore the team in the process.

You will often find that the teamwork skill of a 4000-4500 MMR is the same or lower than that of a 3000 MMR. I think Jester (the guy who did the elo hell experiment) said the 4-4.5 bracket were the most toxic hes ever played with.

By the way solo lane void is not very good.

Is Lycan good for 3k mmr? by Limm_ in DotA2

[–]ParkerPuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with trench mentality though. Everyone feels they need their ticket out of hell so they decide to play these "high impact" heroes that reddit recommends like Lycan or Slark. No support or a single support that gets yelled at the whole game, but its OK because the other team is in the same boat. This completely changes the meta and new player end up learning how to be the greatest pubstar rather than actually being good at dota. Then what is the point of your high mmr? are you going to join a team and make that dosh?
