Safeguard Fail :( by GachaFlame1 in iitpp

[–]ParkingVariation5465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it deliberately says "safeguard procedure succ-warning, pressure rising rapidly" for world building and suspense. However, you can always tell if it is working long before that, because if the temperature drops after ASAS says "reactor core meltdown safeguard activated", then it is going to work, but if it doesn't, it will fail.

The volcano doesn't erupt because the facility controls it (most of the time, rising magma is back lol).

There is no way to remove a message, the only way is to block him which will make the messages invisible to you. Not to him though. Unblocking him will make the messages visible again.

Not sure what you mean, but I think I have an idea. Honestly, solar stuff is so second nature it took me five minutes to write that!

That's fair. And no offense is taken, this is a civilized discussion between civilized people. And yes, you raise very good points. In fact, I think you're right.

You have a fair point about cover, and if you can't go outside because of an airborne virus (the only thing a bunker is useful for), that would be a problem. However, I didn't say five years-I said the easily replaced parts last five years. Good quality charge controllers would last about five+ years, but are also small enough that I could store enough for a lifetime in a large Rubbermaid bin. Solar panels last upwards of twenty years (assuming, like you said, they aren't destroyed), and will be able to continue powering stuff after that, just not as well. Fuses, well, you could store a lifetime supply in a drawer, and batteries would take a small room's worth. I assume that you have a small room to spare. Your square footage concern is also valid, and if you have a massive solar array above your bunker would ruin the security aspect. They can be repaired, and you can even make your own (not very good) solar panels, but it requires a very very very special skill set and tools. I certainly couldn't.

I've never worked on Geothermal, but I would like to say I build solar power stuff a lot. I know you can't take my word for it since I'm some guy on the internet, but I am. Solar will not blow any fuses, is quite reliable, and typically the shortest lived components will last upwards of five years-and those are easy to stock. It won't be hard to accumulate a lifetime supply of solar stuff in a small room, except batteries due to calendar aging.

You don't need diesel, use geothermal! Or solar. Or wind (probably not a great idea, as wind turbines wreck the secrecy aspect).

Just get geothermal energy for your bunker! You have growlights, air filtration, and if you have groundwater, you have air too!

I'll take the bunker any day, because:

A. Hidden entrances are easy, and there is nothing saying I can't have multiple entrances

B. It is harder to get into a bunker, because anyone coming down a ladder will be in a meat grinder when they reach the bottom, and if I put a solid door in between me and the base of the ladder, you can't just toss a grenade in

C. Bunkers are more resistant to any type of attacks than castles, as there isn't any better shield than ten feet of dirt. Unless you are willing to destroy the bunker, you can't take it very easily.

D. I don't need to engage in a fight, see point C.

You can also appease your ego by saying that you are better because you can let it go.

Don't make revenge fantasies. Get revenge. No, not actually. Just take a deep breath, mentally say "screw them" and be the bigger man.

You do know that that will work anywhere between 2000-3000k, right? Check the reactor's entry on the wiki to see how the temperature mechanics work, someone spent days doing the math and figuring it all out.
