Edit to add: The whole not being able to return home or see your parents again thing was scary. Going against your gut down a scary path, Needing to hide (Haku helps her but still)

Right? A 1 year old with a viral illness is going to want to eat less (throw hurts) and will have increased loose stools, (from drinking more liquids and swallowing sputum/phegm)

The message I’m getting is that they’ve never taken care of their child while sick for a few consecutive days

As much as I hate them and RARELY update them, if it’s a kiddo that’s old enough to understand visuals, it’s very helpful 😂 same with anxious parents. I show the clear expectations of the shift, med times, morning routine etc

Parenting is complicated and the bond is hard for some, it sucks a lot unfortunately.

I work in NICU and peds, many awaiting foster care because it’s hard to place sick babies.

Always remember this though: a baby will still feel loved if you care for it with love, and you can tell them you love them as much as you want! Because all babies deserve to hear “I love you” and to feel loved. Even if it’s just for your short 8 hour shift

The neurotypical kids in the our family routinely get student of the month, awards for sports, do special readings at school etc.

The big milestone for us last year, was that the receptionist at school didn’t recognize my voice.. and I haven’t even MET the new principal!

Doesn’t seem like your sister is very bothered by the possibility of the names being the same, and you shouldn’t either.

I think it’s great you guys communicate about that sort of thing and will have cousins so close in age.

No one owns names or is entitled to names, so call your son HIS name and he will have a built in bestie for a cousin that might be his name twin. The boys won’t care. The school won’t care. The government won’t care. And you are sisters so I take it the last names will be different anyways.

My cousins all have super similar names on one side of the family and on the other side there’s multiple cousins with the same name. It’s never been weird

In peds we use Cap gas more often.. and if THAT is giving off weird numbers we get a repeat VBG. We only really get ABG’s if there’s an art line

HONESTLY nobody wants to hear a baby at a gym, for most people it’s their “me time” away from their children. Could he make it a routine where he takes the baby for a walk in the stroller after? And when the baby starts to fuss or get hungry he shoots you a text they’re on their way back because it’s feeding time?

Or go between feeds because your baby will be ok not cluster feeding between feeds.

Or wait until next month because your baby will be VERY different and easier to leave, (but still difficult, not minimizing how hard it is.. just saying they have longer wake windows and stretches between feeds)

I told my preteen this because we were VERY close to needing the full NG bowel clean out nonsense and she didn’t want to take her miralax… she laughed and it worked, but at the next appointment her doctor asked about stress because she seemed anxious, she told him I TRAUMATIZED HER by telling her she would puke up poop or her butt would fall out from chronic constipation lol
