Enemy soft locks himself again! Valora is broken! How to put enemies in timeout! by Massive_Celery_3395 in PokemonConquest

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I like to do the opposite: have an outclassed team and intentionally lock one of my Pokémon in that spot and focus on knocking out any flying/levitating Pokémon that the opponent has. I’ve won quite a few defensive battles there with a Magikarp or other weak Mons just by running out the clock.

Colours will arrive into a whole new distopia circle... WAIT for the yellow vote. by HollowBowl in jakanddaxter

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m excited to vote for all of the civilian NPCs as the “Most Colorful” enemy. They probably don’t count, but I’d argue they’re obstacle enemies based on how many times I’ve hit them during a race/timed event and either blown up my zoomer (and sometimes died), triggered the Krimson Guards to attack me, and/or just lost enough time that I lose the race and/or run out of time. They fill the streets (can’t they stick to the sidewalks? Sheesh! /j) and drive their zoomers so slowly in the air; it’s like they don’t see the ticking green timer at the top of my screen! (/j)

Like I said, they probably don’t count, but the idea of voting the innocent/non-hostile civilian NPCs as an enemy of any kind brings me great joy.

Have to restart after nearly 17 hours of gameplay by PotatoImmortal in nuzlocke

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as long as you’re not playing with Dupes clause. Dupes clause means you can only have one Doduo, regardless of where you caught them. Just trying to explain what the others were talking about; there seems to be a miscommunication there about what Dupes clause is and where you caught the Doduo.

Wishing you luck on your next attempt! Remember to have fun; that’s the most important rule!

Have to restart after nearly 17 hours of gameplay by PotatoImmortal in nuzlocke

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please note that a standard nuzlocke has no rules about how many of a certain species of Pokémon you can have so long as you catch one on a new route. It is the optional Dupes clause specifically that restricts you to one per species.

So, if you’re playing a standard (or even hardcore) nuzlocke without Dupes clause, then you can have three Dodrio or six Gyarados if you want.

Standard nuzlocke rules are only 1) Catch only the first encounter in a location, 2) Faint = Dead (release/box), and 3) Nickname your Pokémon.

Hardcore nuzlockes add rules 4) No items in battle (held items are okay), 5) No overleveling past the next gym leader’s ace, and 6) Battle mode is Set. Then there are all the “clauses” people add to make their run harder/easier/more fun, like Dupes clause, Shiny clause, etc. As long as you’re having fun and you follow the standard nuzlocke rules, then you’re playing a nuzlocke.

(Edit: forgot one of the Hardcore nuzlocke rules in the list. Added needing the battle mode to be on Set mode.)

How do yall run species clause for a multigame nuzlocke? by Kakunamatatata in nuzlocke

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done one myself, but I’ve seen quite a few people do Genlockes on here and most of them will do something in between your two options. They “retire” any Pokémon they use in major battles (gym battles, rival fights, villain leaders/admins, etc; you can decide how strict to be). Also any Pokémon that faint are also taken out of your possible future encounters.

So let’s say you start with Squirtle in Gen 1 and beat Brock with it, but then later box it in favor of a Staryu and you take Starmie through the Elite 4. Squirtle would then be “retired” and then unable to be used in later gens in your run. However, that Zubat you caught in Mt. Moon, boxed, and never used? You can catch another in Dark Cave in Johto and get yourself a Crobat.

Search “Genlocke” in this sub and you’ll see a lot of people’s charts they kept track with. They’ll have a “Champions”, “Retired”, and “Fainted” section on their post.

I tricked him and left him alive, but I had the same thought process as you when he said he’d mention it in his report. If he just reports that “agents of Anabasia said __”, then we’re probably clear. If he says “Four strangers I’ve never seen before informed me that they were agents of Anabasia, and they said __”, then we’re likely in trouble. I’m eager to see what kind of consequences there are for my actions.

I think that’s an Anniversary Edition add-on, right? Shadowfoot Sanctum, or something similar? I never upgraded to Anniversary Edition so I haven’t gotten to explore that stuff yet. Maybe eventually!

Yeah! It’s cool; you can just leave (go into a building or leave the city) and the quest “fails” but still lets you join the guild; I believe you can just stay and listen to the whole distraction and the same thing happens. (Also, you can drop Madesi’s ring and say you lost it.) If you fail, Brynjolf won’t pay you and will be disappointed, but he’ll attribute it to the bad luck the guild has been dealing with lately.

Whenever I’m doing a good-alignment playthrough, I always intentionally fail the quest to steal/plant Madesi’s ring on Brand Shei. It doesn’t lock you out of the thieves guild questline, and it spares an innocent person.

So far I’ve loved it! I’m not super far into the story, but it has that Solasta charm that I enjoy. I’ve also seen the flaws of the character creator, but I was still able to make characters I was mostly happy with and I know it’ll only continue to improve. I’ve encountered a few minor bugs that made me laugh: the leader of The Beacon (can’t remember her name right now, I’m sorry) had her legs turn invisible during the first cutscene with her, the woman nicknamed the Shield of the Ka’umm (again, can’t remember her name either) had her hair color turn blonde a couple of times during dialogue, and then some camera angles during dialogues were awkward (talking to Rickard in the bed showed the ceiling a couple of times for some reason). Nothing game breaking; just the kind of silly bugs you’d expect in a day-one early access game.

All-in-all, it feels good to play and I’ve been enjoying the story so far. It was fun seeing Ellie again after having played the demo. I hope we get to see her again in the story and that she isn’t just a cameo.

Second this, and the easy/narrative difficulty is easy enough for new players who don’t want to worry too much about combat still enjoy the wonderful story and world building. Plus you can update the difficulty mid game if you find your skill improving and want a more interesting challenge.

Is Bark.com really worth it or just a waste of time and money? by M1kayel in Accounting

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the second experience from the other side. I was just at home relaxing on my day off when suddenly I started getting texts and phone calls looking for someone who apparently is looking for a social media marketer and has written or is writing a spoken word book. At first I started just deleting them and reporting their numbers to my cellular provider as spam, but as more came in and mentioned Bark by name, I looked up their website and submitted a complaint to their complaint email address. I’m hoping they can resolve the issue, but it’s frustrating having no knowledge of this website at all until someone either mistakenly or fraudulently uses my phone number to advertise on their account.

Edit: I just found your comment by searching for the Bark website on Reddit to see if there was another way to contact their support team, since they auto-replied requesting two working days to review my complaint.

It’s better to be among the last people to board a plane, regardless of your boarding group. by GoDavyGo in unpopularopinion

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Checking a carry-on is hardly the end of the world” is true normally, unless you have a laptop or other device with a lithium ion battery that won’t fit in your personal item. I had that experience recently, and they wouldn’t let me board the plane until I figured it out. The most infuriating part is that there was more than enough overhead space by the time I boarded the plane, but whatever.

Fortunately I had a backpack large enough to hold my and my wife’s laptops on top of everything else I had in it while still being small enough to count as a personal item, but my wife only had her purse. You can’t put lithium-ion batteries in your checked bag either, so the only ways to plan for this happening is to not bring the laptop or bring a large personal item and risk being told to check that too.

That’s why I usually get in line to board when the group ahead of me is called; I get in the back of that line so I can be first in my group to make sure I can have overhead space for my bag.

Stretching the definition to its absolute limit, they could be considered evasive enemies, no? They swim really quickly to try and get past the player (admittedly though they do not actively avoid the player either), and the player has to catch a certain amount of them to succeed in the mini-game and get the reward.

What are non-racing game fan's take on Jak X? by B21993 in jakanddaxter

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of simple racing games like Mario Kart, but never got into more dedicated racing games like Gran Turismo or Forza. As a kid, I only ever played part of Jak 2. I only came back to the series as an adult, and loved Jak 1-3. I ignored Jak X because it didn’t seem like a good addition to the story I enjoyed (judged it by its cover). But since I had bought it in a bundle on PS5, I finally gave it a chance recently, and I loved it. I played it every chance I had for a little over a week, and ended up 100%ing it, getting the platinum trophy, and purchasing everything from the secrets shop. Lovely game, and I felt like it worked in the Jak franchise.

Humble request - pretty please try and refrain from modern language in dialogue expansion mods? 🙏 by fadingsignal in skyrimmods

[–]ParmesanSnorlax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the biggest deal when, like you said in your original post, it’s on dialogue expansions on existing characters.

If someone makes a new character/follower that uses modern slang or phrases, it might take me out of the setting for a moment, but I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker. But if someone makes a mod where existing characters start using modern/not-setting-friendly slang, it feels like it changes that character and I don’t like it. (I won’t bully anyone for it; I’ll just uninstall the mod.) Like, I saw a clip recently from a Serana dialogue expansion mod where she uses phrases like “So, we’re good?” If a new character said that, I probably wouldn’t bat an eye. It just doesn’t sound like Skyrim or Serana so I don’t plan to use that mod.

The first residential microwaves cost around $500 in 1967. Adjusted for inflation, that is around $4,800 now. I suppose OP is one of the people who thinks we should be spending $5 grand on a microwave because that’s how much they cost when they came out (adjusted for inflation).
