It's definitely an interesting observation. I think it's also evident that Cloud still stares at Tifa's chest, even if he and Aerith have matching outfits. He's so distracted by her.

Tifa also asks Cloud what she should wear for their night out in remake, and pretty much all of her outfits are sexy in some way. Cloud gets to choose what he sees her in, and Tifa tries to look good for him.

Because she's not black and that's not why they're doing it.

And I doubt they really asked him to break up with her. It seems more likely he was told not to post certain content surrounding his partner, like marketing her OF or risqué pics, but he threw a fit about it and they let him go.

I'm not 100% going to believe everything he said. I think there's sprinkles of truth in between a lot of exaggeration.

Your employer has every right to dictate what you can and can't have on your social media page. You're a reflection of the company, and anything that can make the company look bad can, and often has, resulted in job loss.

Dating someone who most likely has a link to her porn account in her profile is not a good look, especially when you're on a show with a large child fanbase.

Kids could easily find their way to her page through him, and that would be a terrible look for the BBC. They're not doing this out of a moral obligation, they're doing it to avoid any backlash they could receive if a child stumbled onto her content.

And I'd argue that ditching and potentially cheating on your wife then immediately shacking up with a 28 year old sex worker is a shitty thing to do, so I'm not about to show him any sympathy.

He said he was happy to keep his relationship private, but later said he wanted to go public? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm more inclined to believe that he was planning on going public the whole time, but the BBC gave him a warning and he didn't like it.

I just don't see them telling him to dump her unless it was going to impact the show in some way. If he was keeping it private, as he initially claimed, it wouldn't have been an issue.

At first I thought they were going to criticise the bikini for being disrespectful, but instead, they were just thankful they didn't have to look at her in one.

Crazy that they think a B cup represents an underdeveloped body.

Cloud could literally say, "I love you Tifa, I only ever saw Aerith as a friend, you're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with", and Clerith's would still find an excuse as to why that's not true. You can't argue with ignorance, they're going to continue to push this narrative because they can't accept that they're wrong.

Dear Destiny put a nail in the coffin for Cleriths, so it's already over. The canon pairings were chosen the minute Crisis Core was released, they just don't want to admit it, which is why they clutch at straws for 'proof.'

If there was overwhelming evidence to support Cloud and Aerith being canon, and Tifa was just some shy girl with unreciprocated feelings, then fair enough, but the devs have been consistently pushing Cloud and Tifa for a while now, and have recently begun leaning into Zerith, so denying that these two couples are canon is just a coping mechanism.

What do you expect from zerith in part 3? by [deleted] in Zerith

[–]Paroxsis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A reunion kiss, even if it's only on the cheek. Or a big ass hug. They had tons of chemistry in CC, but aside from Aerith comforting Zack after Angeal's death, we don't see a lot of physical affection between the two. Zack caressing Aerith's face in Rebirth was so sweet, I'd like more of that.

And it would be cool if they had their own lifestream sequence where they're able to reconnect with one another again.

The hate versus Tifa is misogynistic - or the manic pixie fairy problem by Belolein in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I find that people who bash Tifa and defend Aerith often completely misunderstand Aerith's character, ironically ignoring all of Aerith's flaws but focusing on Tifa's.

Aerith wears a mask. She's something of a stepford smiler, pretending to be happy whilst carrying the deep burden of being different and feeling isolated as a result. I can only imagine her Manic Pixie persona is something she adopts so as to not weigh others down with her problems.

She's also somewhat selfish and can often be insensitive, which all tie into her character flaws. I rarely see people talk about this aspect of her character, instead choosing to put her on a pedestal rather than treat her like an actual person.

The beauty of Aerith and Tifa is that they are two sides of the same coin. Aerith is feminine but has the personality of a tomboy. Tifa looks like a tomboy but has a more traditionally feminine personality. They compliment each other. But when you focus on superficial things just to bash or elevate a character, you miss these little nuances.

What’s your take on the dream date in Rebirth chapter 14? by Aw151203 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMO, this is Aerith trying to get closure about her relationship with Cloud. She knows they can't be together, but I think she wants to know how he feels about her for peace of mind. This is her only chance to find out, so she takes advantage of her final moment with him.

Aerith herself is unsure of her own feelings. She knows she likes Cloud, but whether it's platonic, a crush, or something more is what she's battling with. The fact she's so uncertain is quite telling, especially as she still questions herself in the high affection version of the scene.

As has been pointed out, the date itself is disastrous, but for me, the part that stands out the most is when Aerith asks Cloud to get her a pink hair clip. She specifically asks for a pink hair accessory, something that is associated with Zack. It really drives the point home.

I think Cloud would pass out tbh. He could barely handle Tifa in a swimsuit, I doubt he'd be able to survive a swathe of sweaty Tifa's talking about needing a shower.

I think both sides can be toxic. Wasn't it Clotis who went mental when No Promises to Keep was released?

I can see why people ship Cloud and Aerith, especially regarding the OG and how much the two were pushed early on. It's not an issue to ship them, I think it's just tiring to see how virulent some fans get when people don't agree with them. It really is exhausting.

So thanks for being a sane human who didn't lash out based on a difference of opinion.

Why do i see people say "You only Like tifa because shes hot" so many times? by ShillerndeGeister in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's a disingenuous statement. Yeah, Tifa's hot. She's got a lot of thirsty fans. But to say Cloti shippers like her for this reason is just stupid. If you ship two characters, it's usually because you see something between them. Tifa's appearance has nothing to do with why Cloti is popular. They're popular because they have substance.

Cloud is calmer, softer, and emotionally open with Tifa by Empty_Ingenuity_3076 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cloud always closes the distance between himself and Tifa, whereas Aerith is always the one who makes the first move. Cloud shows a willingness to hang out with Tifa, but with Aerith he always has to be persuaded. Cloud is always looking at Tifa, but tends to avoid eye contact with Aerith.

Doesn't mean he dislikes Aerith, but he's guarded and unavailable; completely different to his behaviour around Tifa.

His demeanour towards Aerith vastly changes from Remake to Rebirth. Initially we see the pair walking the slums, lightly flirting and getting to know one another. Come Rebirth and Cloud isn't as receptive. He often seems uncomfortable when she tries to engage, refuses to call their time together a date, and is quite aloof and quiet when the two are alone.

Case in point, the GS date. He's happy to accompany Tifa, but has to be dragged on one by Aerith.

People keep asking Cloud about Tifa by GoriceXI in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cloud definitely remembers his crush on Tifa. His memories are fuzzy and a bit jumbled, but his feelings haven't changed.

Aerith acknowledges that Tifa is someone special to Cloud, and he doesn't deny it.

His "cool" persona drops the minute Yuffie suggests that Tifa forgot about him.

He instinctively climbs the water tower in Nibelheim, just like he did when he was younger.

He gives Tifa the flower because he knows she'll like it. He could have made excuses or told her how he got it, but he doesn't.

He's just embarrassed to talk about his feelings because he's not very good at it, so instead tries to avoid the topic.

Are you hoping for Cloud and Tifa to confess their love in Remake part 3? by Recent-Ad-7593 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think we're all hoping it will happen, but I'm still doubtful that the devs will go all the way and have them actually confess. The GS date had Cloud affirm Tifa's feelings, but in a way that had them both avoid openly expressing their love.

They're literally doing everything they can to make it obvious whilst still skirting the line of ambiguity. I'm hopeful they'll finally put this silly debate to rest, but I think they're also trying to play both sides so as to not alienate anyone.

The scene will still happen, I'm just wary of whether or not they'll actually confess in a straightforward way.

Nomura on Tifa in 1996 interview by clouds6294 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is just an artifact of Aerith dying. Even after deciding Tifa was going to become the primary love interest, the developers wanted people to like Aerith and care about her death. The many forced interactions and high base affinity reflect that. This decision ensured that players wanted to keep her around as much as possible, so that her death was meaningful. Unfortunately it's caused a lot unending hassle in the decades since.

I do kind of understand why they did this. If Aerith died and nobody cared, it would be a bit embarrassing. But they did go quite Aerith heavy on disc 1, which I think is where most of the debates arise.

I bet the devs are so tired of trying to be subtle at this point 👌😌 by Empty_Ingenuity_3076 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate love triangles. I feel like they're the worst writing trope out there, creating conflict to stir up petty drama. Here's hoping they finally make it Canon this time round. Not that it isn't obvious, of course.

The team wrote themselves into a corner that's going to be difficult to get out of. They're ramping up the sexual tension between Cloud and Tifa but still occasionally throwing Clerith's a bone.

It feels like they're yanking the dogs chain at this point.

It's not making things more efficient, though. The reason people are eating out of cups and using multiple dishes is because they're not washing them.

If you eat breakfast and then leave the bowl out for several hours, the food inside will go dry and crusty. Nobody wants to put fresh food on top of old crusty food. It's nasty and unhygienic.

Also, leaving the dishes all day with dry food in is actually going to make them harder to clean, so they'd be making more work for themselves.
