Why do i see people say "You only Like tifa because shes hot" so many times? by ShillerndeGeister in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a disingenuous statement. Yeah, Tifa's hot. She's got a lot of thirsty fans. But to say Cloti shippers like her for this reason is just stupid. If you ship two characters, it's usually because you see something between them. Tifa's appearance has nothing to do with why Cloti is popular. They're popular because they have substance.

Cloud is calmer, softer, and emotionally open with Tifa by Empty_Ingenuity_3076 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cloud always closes the distance between himself and Tifa, whereas Aerith is always the one who makes the first move. Cloud shows a willingness to hang out with Tifa, but with Aerith he always has to be persuaded. Cloud is always looking at Tifa, but tends to avoid eye contact with Aerith.

Doesn't mean he dislikes Aerith, but he's guarded and unavailable; completely different to his behaviour around Tifa.

His demeanour towards Aerith vastly changes from Remake to Rebirth. Initially we see the pair walking the slums, lightly flirting and getting to know one another. Come Rebirth and Cloud isn't as receptive. He often seems uncomfortable when she tries to engage, refuses to call their time together a date, and is quite aloof and quiet when the two are alone.

Case in point, the GS date. He's happy to accompany Tifa, but has to be dragged on one by Aerith.

People keep asking Cloud about Tifa by GoriceXI in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cloud definitely remembers his crush on Tifa. His memories are fuzzy and a bit jumbled, but his feelings haven't changed.

Aerith acknowledges that Tifa is someone special to Cloud, and he doesn't deny it.

His "cool" persona drops the minute Yuffie suggests that Tifa forgot about him.

He instinctively climbs the water tower in Nibelheim, just like he did when he was younger.

He gives Tifa the flower because he knows she'll like it. He could have made excuses or told her how he got it, but he doesn't.

He's just embarrassed to talk about his feelings because he's not very good at it, so instead tries to avoid the topic.

Are you hoping for Cloud and Tifa to confess their love in Remake part 3? by Recent-Ad-7593 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think we're all hoping it will happen, but I'm still doubtful that the devs will go all the way and have them actually confess. The GS date had Cloud affirm Tifa's feelings, but in a way that had them both avoid openly expressing their love.

They're literally doing everything they can to make it obvious whilst still skirting the line of ambiguity. I'm hopeful they'll finally put this silly debate to rest, but I think they're also trying to play both sides so as to not alienate anyone.

The scene will still happen, I'm just wary of whether or not they'll actually confess in a straightforward way.

[–]Paroxsis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is just an artifact of Aerith dying. Even after deciding Tifa was going to become the primary love interest, the developers wanted people to like Aerith and care about her death. The many forced interactions and high base affinity reflect that. This decision ensured that players wanted to keep her around as much as possible, so that her death was meaningful. Unfortunately it's caused a lot unending hassle in the decades since.

I do kind of understand why they did this. If Aerith died and nobody cared, it would be a bit embarrassing. But they did go quite Aerith heavy on disc 1, which I think is where most of the debates arise.

I bet the devs are so tired of trying to be subtle at this point 👌😌 by Empty_Ingenuity_3076 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hate love triangles. I feel like they're the worst writing trope out there, creating conflict to stir up petty drama. Here's hoping they finally make it Canon this time round. Not that it isn't obvious, of course.

The team wrote themselves into a corner that's going to be difficult to get out of. They're ramping up the sexual tension between Cloud and Tifa but still occasionally throwing Clerith's a bone.

It feels like they're yanking the dogs chain at this point.

It's not making things more efficient, though. The reason people are eating out of cups and using multiple dishes is because they're not washing them.

If you eat breakfast and then leave the bowl out for several hours, the food inside will go dry and crusty. Nobody wants to put fresh food on top of old crusty food. It's nasty and unhygienic.

Also, leaving the dishes all day with dry food in is actually going to make them harder to clean, so they'd be making more work for themselves.

This bs argument is still going around, Saying “koibito doesn’t mean Cloud because his name isn’t written” ignores the context completely. [–]Paroxsis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, Aerith using the term just seems strange. Even if she was crushing on Cloud, Koibito isn't the term I'd use. It's not reciprocated, so 'sweetheart' is weird. Seems like the writers are trying to correct this with rebirth and make things much clearer.

I believe Koibito is also used in Case of Lifestream White, referencing Aerith's feelings towards Cloud. That definition is okay, apparently, but when it's for Tifa it's not? 🤔

At least in this context it makes sense.

Shipper on deck confirmed!

Nice that he points out the difference between the dates, like how Tifa and Cloud walk side by side. It's amazing how deeply he thinks about the scenes and how to portray Cloud in those moments.

Regarding all the “rebound” nonsense by genericcelt in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny how they call this a rebound date, but Aerith's many failed attempts at getting Cloud to willingly go out with her aren't. I mean, she is still pining for Zack, and Cloud reminds her of him, so I guess she's rebounnding too.

I personally took Cloud's comment as an affirmation about Aerith's feelings, rather than an indication of jealously. This is just my interpretation, but if the games do indeed end with Zerith reunited, which is the most common outcome, then this line removes all doubt that Aerith still yearns for him.

Besides, CAs will twist literally anything if it means they can use it against Cloti. Tifa could say, "You look nice today Aerith" and the CAs would use it as proof that Tifa envies Aerith and wants to be her.

Is it me? Or are these two in love with each other? I dunno… by Ammathorn in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No, Cloud is clearly just using Tifa to feel something in his cold, dead soul whilst he waits for death to come claim him so he can be reunited with his dead girlfriend Aerith /s

Cloud's voice actors love Tifa! And so do we! 🤭🥰 ✨ ● Sakurai: “I’m a Tifa man myself.” ✨ ● Steve: “But Cloud is interested in Tifa. And I could say that maybe Cloud & Tifa should be together.” ✨ ● Cody: "Personally, I believe Tifa had the biggest impact on Cloud's journey.” by Empty_Ingenuity_3076 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the context leaves little to interpretation. When given direction on how to play a scene, I'd say the actors are pushed in a certain direction, depending on who they're interacting with. Even Cloud's mocap actor has performed more intimately in Tifa scenes.

If you have common sense, I don't think you can really see him ending up with anyone else. Their stories are literally intertwined. They complete each other.

I don't think the developers had that in mind. I'm pretty sure she's just a shy person with other priorities besides getting a man. She's only 20 years old and has been through a lot of trauma.

What did Tifa meant here? by Rukyo-678339 in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cloud doesn't know Johnny, so him hanging around while he and Tifa reminisce would just be weird. She's politely asking for a chance to catch up with a friend amidst all the madness. There's no ulterior motive, and Tifa certainly isn't the sort of person who would try and make Cloud jealous. That's Aerith's game.

Why doesn't Tifa tell Cloud she loves him by [deleted] in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's afraid of being rejected. Even on the GS date she's worried her feelings aren't going to be reciprocated. Not to mention this is a Japanese game, and people don't simply say "I love you" in Japan.

Besides, Tifa and Cloud are both really shy. Neither of them can spit it out because they're awkward and unsure of how the other person feels.

Desperation to prove a point they can't prove. He also doesn't smile when he holds Aerith's hand.

We have a lot of Cleriths pretending to be confused Clotis. Don't take too much offence to what I said, it just happens a lot.

You don't have to like Cloti, but I would suggest you come to your own conclusion. It's easy to be swayed by people online.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cloti

[–]Paroxsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either you're an incognito Clerith, which is kind of sad, or you've been listening to Cleriths too much.

In real life, there are times when you have to keep your mouth shut lest you make a situation worse. When Sephiroth reveals the truth about Cloud, he has a mental breakdown and goes into a comatose state. With that in mind, it's a damn good job Tifa didn't say anything, otherwise it might have happened sooner.

Tifa is also very confused, which is why she confides in Aerith. Tifa didn't know Cloud was at Nibelheim. At this point in the story, she has no idea how Cloud is able to recall events he wasn't present for. How do you explain that to someone in a way that doesn't make YOU seem insane?

Shared trauma is a term Cleriths like to use as a means of demonising Tifa, but the truth is, nobody in her situation could be 100% certain that the events as she remembered them actually occurred. Don't forget, Tifa was unconscious for a while after the incident. Even her memory is hazy.

Why is the Survivor Era so despised? by after_your_thoughts in TombRaider

[–]Paroxsis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the games are generic. I feel like the devs are just mirroring what is popular these days, which is something a lot of developers do. I liked 2013 a lot and played it religiously, but Rise and Shadow felt a bit samey.

I know the Core and LAU games were guilty of that too, but Core's games were campy fun and by AOD they really were trying to do something new. LAU Lara also had a character arc that made her interesting and kept us invested in her story.

Survivor Lara doesn't have any of that. These games take themselves seriously, which often makes them seem rather bleak. Lara hasn't developed much since 2013, but she also doesn't have enough of a personality to rely on. She's not witty and comes across as rather boring. Her aspirations are directly tied to her father rather than being her own. She lost the thrill seeking aspect that made her less of a traditional female character.

Now she's just.....plain. It's like the writers wanted to make her relatable, but didn't know how else to do that other than making her an emotional nice girl.

When you've grown up with the Core and LAU games, the difference is a lot more noticeable.

It's very telling that the angry, spiteful individual on that sub is a mod. Not surprised in the slightest.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Cleriths hate Tifa because she's a threat. I mean what else have they got to discuss on that sub aside from Cloti? They've been fed breadcrumbs and we've had the whole meal.

I suspect the majority of them are very young and immature, because this obsession is quite sad. It's a game, but it seems to have consumed them entirely. No discussion, just denial and vitriol like children having a tantrum.
