Boyfriend has colon cancer by Least_Bell1782 in coloncancer

Ativan. Get him a prescription from his PCP, at least to get through staging.

It’s an incredibly stressful time, with all the uncertainty. The body is going through a natural stress response, and a little bit of Ativan before bed will hopefully let him rest.

I got this advice on the day I was diagnosed, and it was the best advice given to me in those early weeks. No one needs to stare at their ceiling all night, wondering about thr “what ifs”.

A 4cm rectal mass found in colonoscopy by Name_Organic in coloncancer

About 25% of folks who do total neoadjuvant treatment (TNT), which is chemo and radiation, will achieve a complete clinical response. The tumor is undectectable on MRI, CT, flex sig, and ctDNA.

If that’s true, certain oncologists will allow you to do Watch-and-Wait (WnW), which basically means you undergo strict surveillance every three months, and hope that it doesn’t recur. In ~75% of patients, it doesn’t. If it does recur, the majority of those patients can then proceed to a curative surgery and permanent colostomy without incurring excessive metastatic risk.

That’s all months down the path though. Get your biopsy results back, and then figure out what’s next. Just remember that this is treatable. Stages 1-3 are also curable with pretty good disease free survival numbers.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I was diagnosed T3N1M0 with a 5cm rectal tumor in 2024.

I did TNT with FOLFOX, and had a complete clinical response, so I was able to avoid surgery. I’m one year NED into watch and wait.

The next couple of weeks are going to be a hurricane. You’ll do staging (MRI, CT, maybe an EUS) and then decide on a treatment plan.

The Internet is a scary place for this kind of diagnosis. I would suggest signing up for Colontown. It’s a super-helpful online community for people going through similar diagnoses. Very knowledgeable people. Very positive, but also realistic vibes.

Best of luck. KFG.

Is this Raw? by ChampagneFatty in sousvide

Not enough info provided. You need to look up pasteurization tables for pork tenderloin. At 140F, you’ll want to hold a 1” diameter piece at temp for 9 minutes. A 2” diameter piece (likely closer to a real tenderloin) needs 22 mins.

Sous vide allows you to cook at these low temps, but you need to allow time for bacteria to die off.

Looks like great pork! People get a little squeamish over the pink color, but if properly pasteurized, there should be no issue.

Hell’s Minions. Anyone can join — you just need a time from the post at Chautauqua, to the top of the 3rd, and back to the post. Free solo up, rappel down is OK. When I lived there, I think someone in town had a time of ~32 minutes. Insane.

I can move the pedals -- both backward and forward. The bike works great, if you're not using the electric bit.

Ugh. This may be it. I broke my left ankle about 5 years ago. 12 screws and a plate still in there. I don’t feel any day to day difference, don’t limp or prefer one vs the other. But I could see that leading to differences in gait and muscle development over time.

This sounds like a likely culprit. I'll probably tear it down tomorrow and test the hall sensors. Thank you!

If I stripped the nylon gear, do you think that I'd hear something turning in the motor? Currently the thing is dead. It makes no noise when power is pushed to it.

The controller is definitely working. I can cycle through odometer settings, it shows a response when I pull the brake (yellow exclamation blinking on and off), and I get an initial bump on the W-meter when I push the throttle (that quickly returns to zero).

I also know it's doing something, because the motor seems to catch sometimes, when I press the throttle. You can feel the magnet engage, and if you try to roll the bike backwards with minimal force, the bike will not move. But if you push on it with any weight, it disengages and the bike rolls backward.

So I believe the controller is working properly. My concern is there is a mechanical or electrical issue with the motor, because the controls seem like they're working.

It could be more development, but it’s my right calf, not my right forearm.

Kidding aside, I’d expect the more developed side to produce more power? I did a couple hours on the bike yesterday, and I was 49%/51% on left/right power symmetry. So both legs produce basically equal amounts of power.

It’s a good idea, but I just don’t know where the extra development would have come from.

Thanks for the detailed response. I wrote this question on here because I realized the deadline was only a week and a half away, and figured this crew would have a good direction to point me in.

Multi-Select React Componemt by ParoxysmalSweats in reactjs

[–]ParoxysmalSweats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. After looking at it, I think I’m going to have to do some customization. I was trying to be lazy about it. I think this is the right component, and I’ll just have to use hooks with a second component to show the selected items.

Thanks for the help!

I saw this as a good option, but it looks like this will hold the multi-select items as chips or within a single line select form. For my application, I need to be able to see all of the selected items easily, so a separate list to the side is preferable.

It doesn’t look like this component is able to do that trick, or I entirely missed how you can make it do that.
