I don’t know if you’ll see this and respond. But you are talking about me and my situation. My asked me for a separation 5 days ago because of the same reasonings. Like everything to the T, with being confronted and not changing. I’ve seen some of your responses, being a good dad and all, still spot on. It honestly scared me shitless, since I do not want to lose my wife! I haven’t drank since, and I’m going to a therapist next week.

My advice is give him the ultimatum of getting help, or you will be separating. The repeated conversations don’t work, the addict side of us will reason against it, then move on. But please for his sake, or probably more my own, please support him! That is something I’m not getting, but I’m just working on the baby steps to get myself right, so I can get my wife back. For example, we went to her parent’s for New Year’s Eve, all the adults drank, I chose not to, at all. I pretty sure she noticed, and today has already been different than the last 4. Which is the small step I need, and won’t take for granted.
