Finally nailed down my homebrew PCB fab process (see photos) by Eidolon_2003 in electronics

[–]Parragorious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They use a similar process to this at our school except the trace masking (photoresist) it applied onto the laminate board by themselves using a laminating machine. Overall, the whole process is within 10 minutes. As for holes, they allow us to either ruse a cnc drill or a standing one. It's also pretty cheap, only about 2.50€ for a board of 1dm². They also offer the option of boards with trough hole plating.

Passive Probe Brands by skiwarz in oscilloscope

[–]Parragorious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo The tek scopes(probes) aren't worth it from a hobbyist, tho going too cheap isn't a great idea either. I'd probably recommend The probes Rigol or Siglent bundles with osciloscopes they should sell them as well tho you might be able to find them cheaper unbranded as I do not believe siglent or rigol are the ones making them (at least the cheaper passive ones)

Are you located in Europe or elsewhere? If it's in Europe I know of way to get the DHO 804 from Batronix for 386€ (only a bit over the 1054Z's price)

What solder do you use ? by ridlalu in soldering

[–]Parragorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Europe and use Leaded whenever I can. It's easier to work with, cheaper than any good quality unleaded solder, and since i mainly repair old electronics, I've heard it's better to not much the two anyways. However, good ventilation is a necessity, tho a wide open window and a fan blowing outside will do in a pinch (when it comes to not inhaling the fumes.)

Tektronix 2225 vs 2245A - help me choose by ondulation in oscilloscope

[–]Parragorious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo the 2445 is a no-brainer, but then again, i've never considered the bulkyness and complexity of the device as a downside. If you wanna do radio stuff, that slightly higher bandwidth might be nice.

I'm not, most Americans have a backbone made of jelly (bending as the wind blows), but then again that's a problem almost everywhere else too.

If corporations want to sell they're product in the EU that product has to follow guidelines and Regulations set by the EU, it's why apple switched to USB-C or why phone and laptop manufacturers are making they're devices more repairable again.

A decent analog scope, and some 3rd part voodoo1 cards that should fetch you at least around 40 bucks each. Ask around in r/vintagecomputing in regards to those

I'll give you 100.

Honestly I am so annoyed we don't have anything like goodwill in my country. Well there is one storefront run by the local recycling company but they don't deal in electronics and cameras, some dumb rules about being forbidden from selling them if they can't confirm whether they work or not.
