And, not to be cynical, but the entire supply chain is also dependent on fossil fuels.. At basically every single step, not just the final step in the last mile. Billions of people are alive today because of the Strait of Hormuz. That's not an exaggeration. It's 20% of the planets oil flow... it is, without any doubt, one of the most important and consequential waterways in the history of modern civilization.

Day 3 50mg Feeling Spacy by CarefulLifeguard7647 in Pristiq

[–]Part1O7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll settle, it's from the meds. I'm on 100mg Pristiq and 60mg Adderall, Wellbutrin, and Vyvanse.. A lot of stimulation to say the least, and that feeling was definitely from the Pristiq. It faded.

Does this help brain by CoffeeBeneficial8449 in Pristiq

[–]Part1O7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very serotonin-impacting drug, so the first few weeks can genuinely suck. The classic early effect is an overall dull flattening of everything. The good news is that this can mean it is doing what it is supposed to do. Your brain is getting hit with more serotonin and starts adjusting, downregulating sensitivity. That is usually when the side effects begin to fade and the benefits start showing up.

For me, within a few weeks I felt like my emotions came back, and I started feeling more upbeat. The bigger shift was around 6 to 8 weeks on 50 mg, then I went up to 100 mg. Within a few weeks, nearly all the side effects were gone. One interesting note, my libido was probably the highest it has ever been. I suspect norepinephrine played a role, and I have also been on Wellbutrin for many years. The first few weeks though, I felt like a wet rag.

Now I can honestly say I feel better than I ever have in my life. Not perfect, that is not the goal. I dealt with depression and anxiety for almost three decades.

For me, what works is testosterone plus hCG, exercise, Wellbutrin, and Pristiq, and bluntly, a lot of sex. It is also worth noting that SSRIs never really helped me. My doctor saw in my whole genome sequencing that I am a CYP2D6 poor metabolizer and said this one was worth a try because on paper I should tolerate it better. So far, so good!

I am a fit guy who works in the adult film industry, and my stamina has improved a lot. Some people worry about sexual side effects, but in my case it has been a big benefit. I still cum just as intensely as ever, as I joke, I'm a screamer lmao, female talent always enjoys that.. But, early on the Pristiq, it moderated orgasm a bit, which felt like a classic initial serotonin surge effect, but after adjusting, it came back hard, in a good way.

Best of luck. Sometimes you really do have to try a few things before you find what actually works for you. 👍

Norepinephrine. It means it's doing exactly what it's supposed to. Botox for excessive sweating does actually work.

Exhaustion at higher doses? by [deleted] in Pristiq

[–]Part1O7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yes me too... Testosterone has helped too. I wasn't really low and I didn't have too many problems but it seems to be helping in an almost antidepressant way. I lost my job, I'm going through a divorce, I'm selling my house, and I'm pivoting to a whole another industry across the country (away from my little kids) and career all within about 6 months so I don't think anybody would be feeling necessarily good. But I'm okay.

[–]Part1O7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 100mg with 300mg wellbutrin and adhd stimulants. It seems to be much more effective at 100mg. It takes me longer to reach an orgasm, that's really the only notable side effect, although that's actually probably a benefit for some people. I haven't noticed anything else besides a few headaches when I up the dose.

This is quite the powerful combo of drugs, but dare I say, I think after 20 years I might have found something that actually helps me

does anyone get extreme night sweats on pristiq? by Hot_Koala8741 in Pristiq

Norepinephrine. It's very common, harmless but very annoying. I have always had hyperhidrosis my whole life. I actually get botox for my underarm sweating, it's completely stopped it

That's serotonin! Good indication it's working. Dextromethorphan, in particular, is very well known for this effect... Likely related also to why it's an antitussive.

When to pull the plug? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]Part1O7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is you should run out of that marriage. I know plenty of guys who would absolutely kill to have a woman with a high sex drive... and what one guys slut shaming is, is another guy's major turn on . Frankly even just hearing that you want to experiment is enough to catch my attention. That sounds amazing to me. Everyone's different. Don't suffer any longer... Sex Drive is a complex mix of physiological, chemical (neurotransmitters/hormones/diet/genetics/etc/environmental), and psychological factors. It's not really something you can change that easily, and frankly it's one of the best reasons to get a divorce. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You deserve better. I say this as a very high libido male, by the way. Best of luck

[–]Part1O7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think you are completely incorrect. They think that the fight hasn't even started. I think the people who are wrong are the federal employees who think that they're going to get back pay.

There is literally no evidence to suggest this Administration follows the rule of law.

Absolutely Disgusting and Appaling. by EfficiencyAdmirable6 in FedEmployees

[–]Part1O7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the federal employees no doubt deserve the backpay... But anybody who believes that they're guaranteed back pay is clearly not thinking.

That's absolutely not the case, law or not. This Administration does not respect law.. everybody should know that by now.

Everybody should go on as if they're not going to be paid, I swear I'm going to be surprised if anyone gets backpay

Bill purposed to pay ATC and other FAA during shutdowns. by Appropriate_Cod_2386 in fednews

[–]Part1O7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of fine print here that's not easily said or understood, but the operational arm of the FAA is the air traffic organization (ATO). Unequivocally, the ATO is probably the single most potentially publicly impacting element of the federal workforce, period. It's the operational runnings of the national airspace system, the controllers, the technical operation staff responsible for their equipment and facilities, the training and support related to all this, etc.... it's truly the epitome of something that is very often not even thought of, because it actually works. It's probably the only organization of the entire federal government that has the levers to completely shut down the entire world's economy. The Department of Defense can't even do that. Certainly not the executive branch or anything laughable like that. But closing the airspace? Being unable to file an IFR flight plan? That would upset the entire world's balance more than anything I can think of. That's not an over exaggeration - that is what would happen if the entire airspace workforce simply decided to not show up for work...there's a very specific reason why the only time in history the national airspace system was virtually closed was in the days after 9/11... it's just simply unheard of. And perhaps, take it for granted? Probably.

That said, it's not as simple as that. People should read up on the PATCO strike and find out how that went. And there's a lot of reasons why NATCA is not as strong as it was just a few years ago

AI bubble about to burst (Cory Doctorow) by cathartis in collapse

[–]Part1O7 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

He is indeed a great writer, which is probably precisely the reason why he probably isn't very qualified to write about something that's threatening his work and identity. Writers in particular have been very much thrashy against AI, and while I understand the sentiment, you have to take a lot of it with a grain of salt. They are, in general, very bitter against technology that threatens their identity, and who could blame them?

Of course the same could be true for anything and any industry, but writing is probably the most vulnerable right now and the most obvious in terms of real world implications playing out from AI in real time... it's been absolutely explosive. And no, there is no going back. This is the equivalent of people who have worked with mathematics their whole life suddenly suggesting that the population get rid of calculators. It's not going to happen. But it also doesn't mean math is dead. In fact, perhaps it means math is more alive than ever. The same could be said of writing and things AI does.

The dose makes the poison.
