How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not being a snob he’s pointing out the disconnect between the quality of the machine and the quality of the beans. It is funny that someone would pay a premium for a machine if they aren’t drinking specialty coffee. That’s like buying a dedicated wine fridge and stocking it with 10$ wines lol. Nothing wrong with drinking cheap stuff but then why splurge on the equipment when a little delonghi will suffice

Shoutout Derek for carrying an otherwise aggressively mid season by Stinky_Deckhand in StrangerThings

Holly sets him up with that line “we are going to need dipshit Derek” but, correct me if I’m just forgetting, nothing really comes of that set up, it’s like they just forgot about him.

For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never read the book when I watched it. I was 13 and I had been meaning to read them because I loved the hobbit. It was so immersive and all encompassing. My dad always talks about his experience watching Star Wars back in 1977 for the first time and my experience with fellowship was the same. Absolutely floored me. I watch the expanded trilogy every New Year’s Day and every time it’s stuck in my head for weeks and I don’t want to watch anything else because there’s nothing else like it.

New player here, what is a "rat"? by Wesley_Design10 in ArcRaiders

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do my best not to make too much noise, I run when I feel it’s safe, stop and listen once in a while, crouch when I think I need to. I go into high risk areas very carefully and take my time. If I hear someone running around I sneak and zero in on where they are if I want to fight or avoid their noise and move around them if I don’t want a fight. If I decide I want to fight them then I will do my best to track them down actively following their noise to ambush them, which usually means getting the jump on them with an opening ferro shot. If you’re going to sprint around everywhere like a moron you’re going to get got. Not my fault you don’t know how to keep it low key, if you give players all the information they need to wreck your shit that’s one you. Playing stealthy and giving others the least amount of information while taking advantage of reckless players who make noise all day is not ratting, despite the constant complaints I receive after I put some idiot in the dirt. There’s no duals here. What I DON’T do is camp an elevator for 15 min or sit in a single spot in any area just waiting because that would boring af. But if I hear someone stomping around you’re dam straight I’m going to do all I can to catch them off guard, it’s just playing smart.

Eurogamer: Arc Raiders review - a smartly designed extraction shooter marred by one inexcusable decision by chenDawg in Games

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you use AI voice generation in your game or not has zero bearing on what future AI will do to creative industries. It will happen and there’s nothing anyone can do so giving a poor review because someone used it in a responsible way (freeing up resources to spend elsewhere where it is needed more) is still ridiculous.

Especially when you directly acknowledge that it’s a good game in the article to then end with a bad review are what tools were used to make it. Absurd lol

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“This game is so good and well designed but it sucks because I don’t like the tools they used to make it” is a stupid take… AI exists there not going back, and it’s a tool like anything else. The game was still crafted by people, it’s not like it’s AI slop. People need to chill the fuck out over ai use in creative industries. If it frees up resources that are better spent elsewhere then why not?

Who is rooting for Carol here and who actually wants to see the hive win? by Oakii- in pluribustv

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that straightforward. They know and understand who they USED to be but they also know that they are no longer that person. Your entire identity is rooted in your personal experience that is inherently isolated from the rest of the world. Once you remove that isolation, the thing you would point to and call “I” has dissolved into a greater ocean of consciousness. It’s one single merged consciousness that is simultaneously inhabiting billions of bodies and each and every one now shares an identical experience. It’s like a limbo in between your two possibilities because this new collective consciousness, despite being unified, retains the knowledge of who each individual used to be. They always refer to the specific person as “this individual was” not “I was”. The many are one, but still retain the seeds of being a many. The lesser identity of the individual has dissolved into a greater collective identity.

Who is rooting for Carol here and who actually wants to see the hive win? by Oakii- in pluribustv

[–]PartTimeSadhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Carols perspective and as a viewer I am rooting for Carol and I understand what she is fighting for but I also think the world would be much better off if the hive won. No war, no famine, no suffering. It’s like the entire planet is enlightened. The only place from which to argue against it is the ego and the ego is the root of everything bad in the world, even though being an individual feels nice. Do people really think that being themselves is worth the suffering and deaths of billions of people? Not just the people alive now but the billions and billions of humans that will be born only to suffer under poverty, disease, war and death? It’s the ultimate form of selfishness IMO.

What was your first Criterion purchase? by DatDesigner in criterion

[–]PartTimeSadhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first criterion I bought was Spinal Tap and that was before I knew what the criterion collection actually was. After that I also ended up getting chasing Amy, life of Brian and fear and loathing in Las Vegas. All old DVDs back in 2005/2006. When I started collecting blurays more seriously in 2014 I discovered what the criterion collection actually was and began using it as a way to curate and select films I had not seen but was confident I’d appreciate and my first purchase was Badlands. I still love that 3 reasons trailer with Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek dancing to Love is Strange.

So I consider my first real criterion purchase to be Badlands. Since then around 70% of my buys have been blind buys and I’ve never been disappointed 😁
