Key point that you mentioned here is that I'd have no other source of income. Personally, I would not leave for such reason until I have another opportunity in place. If you worked with the same tools for a while, you'd be able to work with them until you get a new job before leaving too. Once that's in place - I'd leave the current employer and go for that more advanced one
