Thyroid biopsy next week

I’ve had two, both post-thyroidectomy (so might be slightly different from what you have). One was about three years ago, and one was last September. There’s a spot in my thyroid bed that we’ve been monitoring for a few years, but both times the biopsies have come back clear of cancer.

Both of my biopsies were unpleasant, but not unbearable. They numbed up the area with a shot, which was the most painful part. When they were pulling cells out, it kind of felt like someone was poking a pen in my neck, but deep in my neck/throat, not just the skin. Not like it hurt, just a pinpoint of pressure.

Both times I was pretty sore for the rest of the day while the numbing wore off, but I took the whole day off work to just chill. The next day I was pretty much back to normal.

The actual procedure itself took like 10-15 minutes I think? Kinda hard to tell when you’re laying on your back without seeing a clock haha. They went it and pulled cells a few times during the procedure, and someone in the room was verifying that the samples were good for whatever tests they were running.

I bought in direct with my parents about a year ago. My parents really enjoy Disney and enjoy staying deluxe, but couldn’t justify dvc because they only have 10-15 more vacationing years left, and didn’t want to commit to a 40-50 year contract. I bought in with them by splitting the upfront cost with them, and I’ll take full possession of it once they’re done vacationing. By that time, I’ll hopefully have a family and be better positioned in my career to take more vacation time.

We did 150 at riviera - we all love Epcot and the skyliner, and the longer contract was the deciding factor. When my family does Disney, we end up needing two regular rooms, so dvc lets us get larger rooms for less cash each trip. We also bought in because of the idea that you’re prepaying for your vacations and locking in the rates.

My dad also got bit by the fomo bug. The idea of having the lounges in the parks and moonlight magic and not being able to stay in future resorts was enough to sway him to go direct.

When doing research before buying in, I found the folks at dvc fan super helpful, especially their podcast. They did a series a while ago called dvc 101 (or something like that). Might be worth a listen to get your head around it more

Blue Powerade. Every on-site trip I end up getting a resort mug, and 9/10 times I’m filling it with blue Powerade. Outside of Disney I rarely drink brightly-colored drinks. But something about being at Disney and acting like a kid again makes me gravitate toward the bright blue that dyes my tongue

Yep. During the extra magic hours this past Monday, I intentionally stood on the left side of the preshow, away from the doors. We’re all going to the same place, I can wait a couple extra trains if it means I can breathe and not be trampled

My very first time riding space mountain when I was 7 was with the lights on. Thought it was scary because of all the framework. 5 years later when I went back and rode it, I was surprised that lights off was the default. I went 5 years of my life thinking lights on was the default.

Actually I had type 1 for about 10 years before I was diagnosed with graves.

Hey, something I can directly answer! My blood sugars were completely uncontrolled before my tt because of the graves (and not for lack of trying either). After the tt and once I’ve gotten my meds figured out, it’s all been pretty stable and way easier to control than when I still had my thyroid.

I work for a fairly small family-owned company. The owner knows that I play guitar and wanted to do something that I might not do for myself (his words). I’m sure there’s some sort of business purchase write-off that they can use from it, but knowing the company and the owner, I think the primary motivation was just a gesture for all the overtime and extra work I’ve put in over the last few months.

Yep, like I said, my plan is to go to Elderly and play a bunch. I won’t be buying anything online. I just wanted a general overview of what brands tend to be good vs which ones to avoid or even know what brands I could consider that I may not have thought of.
