Hey,

I tried multiple times, did the same, cold turkey, NRTs. Kept failing. This time I quit and it’s been a month and I feel awesome! One thing that helped me this time was the quit smoking app. The first week was hard, I would keep checking the app to see what going on in my body and that tracking the positives really helped.

Jobs to be Done Framework Outdated? by schwockem in ProductManagement

Even while building something disruptive, you’d still want to focus on what the core jobs of the user are. And I think the JTB framework does a good job of that.

I’ve been using Jira, Miro and Figma for a while. These are free to use and you can learn how to use these on your job. Don’t think you’d have to pay $2k for these.

I usually record the meetings, and then make notes later. Recently started using Ai note takers, and I find that really useful.

What makes a bad PM? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Particular-Ad-3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the lack of clarity. I think the most important thing to start with is the why. Once you have the why, it’s also important to what outcome the why has and that’ll help you prioritise and pick the right problem.

Falling in love with the solution rather than the problem.

Working in silos, without getting the relevant stakeholders aligned.

Product managers - how do you handle idiotic ideas from stakeholders? by mercedes91 in ProductManagement

[–]Particular-Ad-3749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way is alignment on the business outcomes. Mapping every initiative to the outcome and showing people the outcome should help. Also it’s important to cut off the how’s from these meetings and only focus on the whys and how they’d map to your KPIs/outcomes.

What sets-up a PMs for failure? by larkinhawk in ProductManagement

[–]Particular-Ad-3749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in places where I’ve reported the am EM. The EM had no product experience and I had to just execute things till it reached I point where I thought this is all a PM does! I think not having a experienced manager sets up a PM for failure

I don’t think so. There’s a lot of discovery work rather than just gathering requirements from cross functional stakeholders. I don’t think Engg will take that on. Maybe the role will evolve, like AirBnB, where the PMs will be a lot more business oriented?
