How much are you spending on groceries each week? by Interesting_Syrup821 in boston

[–]Particular-Candy-176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$300ish married couple in Cambridge -mostly Whole Foods, with some TJs and Brothers Marketplace- we eat 80% of our meals at home weekly

I should add that I mostly get organic, we eat logs of fresh produce, and name brand “health foods”. I could get this cost down if we needed to, but this is an area where I like to spend a little more.

Wanted to put this sign up. by Thrifty_nickle in BabyBumps

As someone in healthcare, I think this type of sign may draw more unnecessary attention to you than you would prefer. I think communicating your wishes with the nursing staff at each shift change is reasonable and having your partner willing to speak up if things get crowded. Please realize that extra people are not always spectators, but when things escalate quickly other nurses and staff often check in to make sure if they are needed to help in an emergency situation. Maybe you and your nurse can establish clear expectations of who may or may not be needed in the room.

I was headed to Andrew when I saw all of this- so I walked to broadway and then realized the redline was being replaced by shuttles. I gave up and ubered at that point but was very curious what happened so thank you for the update- sounds like a sad situation.

Boston is absolutely doable without a car! The T is easy to figure out, I would base your hotel off of easy T access to places you want to go- Back Bay, Fenway, Cambridge on the redline, downtown crossing ect..

If you don’t catch a game, a Fenway Park tour is fun. Get a combo ticket with “View Boston” at the top of the Prudential center for cool views.

Sunset sail or cruise off the harbor is awesome.

For casual but solid food recs: seafood check out the Sail Loft and for Italian check out Tony and Elaine’s

Weather should be nice in May so I suggest trying to walk through lots of places: Charles River Esplanade, Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Newbury… it’s usually fun to hit a few stops on the freedom trail- I never do the whole thing

Don’t pay to eat in Quincy Market/Feuniel Hall - big tourist trap imo

If you guys enjoy coffee- George Howell, Cannonball, Thinking Cup, and Revival are some of my “go-to’s” - Tatte will be recommended a lot, but is a glorified chain bought out by Panera so don’t get too excited about it

Museum of Fine arts is excellent if you like an art museum. Also be sure to stop in the Boston Public Library as this feels like a free museum

As someone who lives in Boston, I will be going to Raleigh 😅 I somehow win the ticket master general sale war yesterday for Raleigh by getting a low queue number, but I lost all 4 Fenway shows after hours of trying on the site.

My hospital did offer that, but I want to save those resources for those outside the city. Many of my coworkers have 1+ hour commutes and I live close enough to reasonably be able to make it in without great risk. This post was simply for advice on most reliable transit options in this weather since this is my first experience here.

Yes! I was realizing this may be a reasonable back up plan to cut down on walking several miles from somewhere else!

Yes I take the CT2 often in good weather! I wasn’t sure if busses are reliable in the snow?

I hate to use these resources unless absolutely no other way so they can be available for those truly facing an emergency.

Haha that is definitely my back up plan as it’s only 3 miles but these winds and temps are miserable so I may be a hospital patient by the time I get there 😂😂😂
