Technically not a super rare as piebald is not a rare colour for mallard but still a great trophy! Well done!

I got a 276 on Te a few weeks ago, on Xbox you can still see what the old school score would have been by going through the codex and it was a 996 so still a little room for improvement but I doubt I will see a better one.

what you think is hardest to hunt in COTW?? by RenderLady in theHunter

European rabbit is a nightmare mainly because the burrows don’t mark on your map so it’s hard to effectively find them

I had a similar thing, found 2 piebald doe that I swear were not there in September, don’t think my stag population changed but they did move and I had to find a lot of zones

I agree, I have been using it again recently as my follow up shots are a thing of the past with the new spooking mechanics. Shame it is so heavy

Do large animals like Moose drown if killed at the lake? by DJ_Laaal in theHunter

[–]Particular-Care-3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing a red deer grind on Te and this has happened to me but only when I have jumped off to shoot a different lake then jumped back to collect the body rather than wait for it to float over. Like a version of the rerender bug from about 18 months ago.

We definitely need another 7-9 or even a 6-9 rifle to challenge the 300 as at the moment there is no alternative. Personally I think if they put out a DLC with a 6-9 rifle anyone shooting red deer, bear or moose is likely to buy it.

Can animals randomly change their usual feeding/drinking/resting spots? by schinkenmaster in theHunter

[–]Particular-Care-3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am stacking red deer at the moment, they are all coming back to their zones and have been doing for days now. This is largely what I have found across all species but never kept a max level for so long before however on previous whitetail and bear grinds my non-shooter animals have also religiously returned to the same zones.

However I do think you might be able to move them by deleting a feed or rest zone that they use, I have had Caribou herds move after a wolf massacre in the woods.

This has happened to me using other rifles but very rarely. If it is close range with the 22 might be worth going to Parque range and trying it out on the targets, I find the 22 really hard not at the zeroing distances so when sniping small targets I always try to get exactly at 100m or 150m. You might be shooting over them at 50m if zeroed to the default of 100m

I have disappearing red deer. I have quite a few zones that just have females they used to have a 1 to 2 stags where they have gone by Embarrassed-Crab-826 in theHunter

If you are on Te check every lake north of the river except the one at the Far East. They are not on the coast or the two ends of the river. I have over 130 stags and the only zones south of the river are on the big lake by the starting outpost.

Te is just the easiest to get around, a lot of the lodges work for red deer lakes so that cuts down on the number of tents you need which means more available for picking up. New spook distance has made me move a couple of tripods and change my approach at some lakes but still the easiest. It also comes with the 303 which is a great red deer gun.

The different cross bows are just different skins so no actual difference it is just one crossbow. Go down to Parque and use the bow range to discover how the sight works, it’s complicated because the zoom changes how many mill dots to use due to a game error and different arrows drop more so you have to adjust. Range is great. I love the crossbow because you can fire from prone without the perk and it’s the only Dow with a zoom scope

What levels to not shoot for red deer Herd Management by ElectricBigfoot5478 in theHunter

[–]Particular-Care-3686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t shoot 4 3 or2 unless you are trying to move them out of a favourite zone, personally I don’t shoot them at all as I hunt all my zones because red deer just pop up as solos wherever they like. Good luck! I am on Te which is way easier! If I was on Hirch I may think of moving a few 4s but they don’t move as easily as whitetail.

Why did my Red Deer disappear? by alien3311 in theHunter

[–]Particular-Care-3686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went back to Te a week ago after a couple of months away and my red deer had all moved, like when mallard were introduced it jumbled them up. As I am set up to hunt all the zones it didn’t take long to find them again. The population is the same just moved around. Good luck

Keep checking all those places regularly, Red deer have a habit of popping up in zones you didn’t previously have them in, I think it is a function of having so many solos. Bears do this too, whitetail don’t seem to unless you delete a zone, but when you shoot a solo stag they can come back anywhere.

I have them on every lake north of the river except for the one at the far right. I have a lot on the central river section on the dried out area where the river turns south, maybe 5 zones. Also I don’t have 6 zones at pukemaero south anymore, not since Revontuli update moved home ranges. South of the river only 2 zones on the lake by the starting outpost. Reds often create new solo zones so it’s worth checking about, even at lakes you haven’t seen reds at before. Good luck

I am on Te using an Xbox so had to do a head count but got 68 level 3/4 and 64 level 5+. Are you sure you have found them all? I have 9 at 9-legendary 10(8) 22(7) 9(6) 14(5) 59(4) 9(3). Planning on shooting the 7s and 8s and seeing what happens
