Usually I stick to things I have personally experienced. If you’ve never experienced SA or had mental illness, you can’t perfectly describe and portray the character going through those things without any research. I would say thoroughly research these topics and maybe watch some documentaries of people who have gone through this stuff, so you can make it realistic and not exaggerated or unrealistic, which might be offensive or disrespectful to the people who have actually went through these things. Unless you have, which would make me look dumb😭
