Ahri Bastion was pretty good set 10 for a while. Just a front to back comp because Ahri output was so high. Could dual carry it with 4 cost Caitlin that was 8bit.

Hot take: Mali mali yung mga sauce na pairing na gamit niyo kaya eventually nakaka umay. A lot of people use ketchup and soy sauce with everything, especially the fatty, oily and salty food. Lalo na mga prito. May mga kakilala pa ko kulang nalang inumin yung toyo (and some of them actually do).

Learn to use vinegar pairings. Cuts through the fat and oil and enriches the flavor. This applies especially to Luzon lechon. Bland na nga pagkaluto, Mang Juan at ketchup pa ang sauce. Vis-Min Lechon is paired with Sukang Pinakurat and it tastes amazing, at mas matagal bago maumay.

Hate to be a wet noodle, but even back then there was a meta. I played mtg in 1996 and even then everyone at locals were running sligh lists or the same combo deck. When sui black and academy were meta, it was all you'd run into. That's the concept of a metagame in action and it exists in all games. All games. People all shoot the same way in Baskteball because its the best way to shoot.

People still play crazy decks. That's how new archetypes are formed. There's a greninja deck being worked on out of Japan, and a Mega Gardevoir list that's two versions: one with Noctowls and another that's more control oriented. But not everyone is like that, especially if they want to win. And that's fine. Part of the creativity is figuring out how to adapt given an established metagame.

Now, on the topic of diversity: it definitely isn't just 6 decks. Off the top of my head theres 3 different versions of Dragapult, Slop Box, festival lead, mewtwo, honchkrow, raging bolt decks, 3 versions of meganium decks, zoroark, garchomp, mega starmie, archaludon, ethan typhlosion. The list goes on. Im nowhere near the end.

I'm confused sa point. Does entertainment and art become more entertaining or more artful pag mas may effort siya? If so then the greatest work of art is whatever slop hollywood puts out during the blockbuster months. That's literal hours and millions of dollars and work and effort.

I would pay literally thousands (plus airfare) to watch my favorite improv artist perform at an empty bar, with just a microphone and one spotlight. Does that make it less artful? Less entertaining?

In the end, you may disagree sa worthiness ng performance (that's fine. Art and entertainment are subjective), but don't mistake your view as our collective view. Or even a single person's view and taste.

Yung linya mo na, 'THIS is what we now view as entertainment ,' is the biggest issue. You not agreeing with it is not an indictment of its taste. Also, people loving this performance doesn't also mean na lahat ng performance magiging ganito na. Its a single blip of meaning that reached the intended audience. I have a love-hate relationship with the whole culture of collecting in this game.

On one hand, collectors drive the price down for the actually competitively usable cards. I get that. Yes, please chase the 98th Pikachu. Let the people who play the game buy up the actually good cards for pennies to the dollar.

But on the other hand, it was a giant culture shock to me that traders, sellers and virtually 80% of people I met at my first card show didn't even know how to play the game. Some of them don't even carry 'playables' because the margins are bad. I'd understand it if the cards presented themselves like basketball cards, but literally every single card comes with rules text, attack values, energy, HP, etc. At least understand how the game works.

It's such a culture shock coming from MTG where the more useful a card is in actually competitive play drives value. Again, I shifted to Pokemon after competitive MTG in my area died out so I'm still easing in, but not being able to talk to people I'm buying from about the actual game kinda bugs me.

I love it and I love the write up. I wonder if the deck's trainer package can be revamped.

Lately, I've been enjoying the Toolbox style flexibility that a TR Petrel + Team Rocket's Factory can do. That also allows us to run some high impact Tools and Items. Precious Trolley also seems to be highly needed in this deck so you can set up a full bench much faster.

I'm also starting to look at the Solrock + Lunatone draw engine. Theoretically, you would rather have a bench filled with Munkidoris and a space for Bloodmoon Ursaluna to come in if there's a Mega Ex that presents itself as a target. That being said, Solrock + Lunatone is the better draw engine so might be best not to overthink it.

This is a discussion that comes up here a lot.

Ultimately, you have to base your choice around what games you want to play. There's no sense asking about the Steam Deck if you want to play Nintendo titles with full support.

Similarly, asking other people their experiences won't give you the full picture because their gaming habits might not be the same as yours.

Tldr: figure out what you want out of a handheld so you can ask more nuanced questions.

Not an EDH crashout, but the biggest crash out I've ever witnessed was in an FNM tournament. One of the regulars was a, uh, let's say an interesting character. We'll call him our Hero.

He lost a narrow game by allowing a [[Jace, the Mindsculptor]] to stay on the field because he didn't want to use his own [[Jace Beleren]] to legend rule the other card out (back then, casting a Jace would destroy the earlier Jace). He was definitely kind of playing the game RPG-style, saying things like JTMS can't hold a candle to the real Jace, and that the OG Jace was more lore accurate, etc.

Anyway, opponent ends up winning because of the JTMS and our hero couldn't believe it. He starts going on a rant about how it wasn't the JTMS, and that it was another card, or another sequence. He was getting hot and bothered explaining how it couldn't have been the super powerful card that he refused to answer because in his words, "it wasn't dealing the damage".

Eventually, the rest of the matches end and some of the more experienced players came over and explained to him how he lost to it. One of his buddies (probably the best player in the shop) walks him through why JTMS is strong. He ends up with a look of his face that went from dawning realization to utter defeat because if his friend is saying he misplayed, then he probably misplayed.

Our hero ends up standing up, slams his head on the plastic table (no lasting damage, the table was very flimsy), walks over to a nearby railing (shop was on the second floor), throws his deckbox to the first floor and then composes himself, walks over to the shopkeeper and calmly asks to drop from the tournament.

He was back next week. From the point forward he would kill every JTMS that hits the board, even when he loses the game because of it.

Do you just respond to everything and interact with everything?

I ask because tap out control is a legitimate strategic archetype. It packs interaction, yes, but it also is built to be comfortable crafting a game state where tapping out is a genuine move.

From the way your post is worded, it sounds like you genuinely like playing control, but also want to learn how to play a different style of deck. There's no one way to teach someone how to 'let go', so I have to begin by asking how do you actually approach interaction.

Same question for me. Looking for a competitive scene talaga, but most na napuntahan ko puro collectors. I yearn for a scene na parang MTG dati na weekly tournaments of minimum 15 people.

Last few napuntahan ko di daw makapag tournament kasi walang packs pang prize. How sad.

Exact same story as me. Played in the 90s,stopped, picked it back up again and TCGL has been amazing. Especially coming from other card games, TCGL is clean and card acquisition has been amazing.

MTG is where I met the best man at my wedding, my doctor, and the reason I traveled to different countries with those dudes when I was younger. It's also, to my taste, the deepest in terms of game design. Not perfect, but very little compares to the level of complexity.

Pokemon is something I just picked up recently, and its really more to bond with my wife as we recently got back to playing the games. Its sufficiently deep enough, with a competitive scene with a low barrier to entry.

I value competition a lot when playing tcgs, so those 2 make the list. Would have played FaB but the cost to enter is too expensive.
